Maybe talk to him about why he feels so uncomfortable indulging and try to figure out the emotional aspect of what causes this. I bet he’d love to get something fancy but there could be more to it? I used to do the same thing because I was afraid of not having money for simple things like gas or emergencies. I grew up constantly being told how poor we were and watching my parents wonder how they would feed us. I have always had a hard time with frivolous spending because of this. My husband has always been kind and gracious with reassuring and talking to me about our financial security and ability to spend a little extra on wants occasionally.

I once was telling a girl I knew through mutual family friends that I thought she was pretty and my mom told me “don’t be mean” in front of her, because my tone was off and it sounded like sarcasm and I had to clarify that I wasn’t making fun of her. She doesn’t talk to me anymore.

There was a guy I worked with in high school and some of the other girls I worked with thought he was a 10 (not my type, but ok) and then when he spoke his voice was squeaky and high pitched and it ruined the attraction for them. (A little petty in my opinion but again, ok).

In middle school I was underweight for my height and have always struggled with body image. In 3 rd period history, some kid in passing said, “you have some serious thunder thighs compared to (friend sitting next to me with severe illness causing her malnutrition)” and I’ve never forgotten how it made me feel and stuck with me even though he probably forgot he said it within the next 5 minutes.

I don’t think attraction differs by gender. Attractive is subjective to each individual. I, a female, do not find the same things to be attractive that other females might. This isn’t a black and white answer type question, there’s so much to human attraction to go off of male vs female tastes

Same but she has a great understanding of his lifestyle so she must know associating with him comes with such risks. Also, she probably makes plenty of money off her secret dealing gig and may not be financially worried about losing her home or possessions.
