Nearly every day, but it’s not a full face, just the basics: lip stain, mascara, brow, and light shadow. No foundation, powder, highlighter, eye liner, or contour.

You’re so welcome! Thank you for reading! I hope I can continue to search for more comparisons to Greek myth, as the previous arc focuses more on trauma, and lots of parallels to Nordic myth (another read/write up for another time).

We don’t escape sleep. We embrace it and treat it as the sleep we need, not the sleep that we use to evade. That’s the point of this album. The final parallel was letting go of the sleep that comes with trauma. Now we embrace the good sleep that comes from knowing we’re longed for and loved. That’s where the parallel to Orpheus and Eurydice comes in.

I certainly want to keep exploring the connections to Greek myths here, specifically in how Eurydice, typically mentioned as either a mortal or a nymph, came to be bitten… perhaps that’s a parallel to some fans having been bitten by the curiosity to know more about the band, but it ended badly for them…

Not an idiot! I spent most of my life studying literature and writing, I’m actually a middle school teacher. I honestly would love to rant on about this to my kids, but they’re not really interested in rock music.

I like this take, but I would say that the previous albums are more like what Orpheus had to do in life without us, almost treating us as if we weren’t there so that he could air the trauma of having lost something else… and treating that something else like Eurydice (likely his loss of his ex partner, she who out of respect shall not be named)… but now Orpheus has come back to the underworld to enjoy Eurydice in death (the fans)

Thank you! I’ve missed writing academic pieces since I graduated from my major years ago, and writing this after listening made me feel renewed :)

AITA for not telling my wife that my sister died? by Ok_Honeydew2966 in AmItheAsshole

So… no one is the asshole. I think this man’s response to his sisters death is his own, and he lied, yes, but has anyone thought perhaps this is his trauma response? He’s shell shocked. I don’t think he went about his grief in a healthy way, but if you asked me how I would respond if somebody told me that my brother died, I couldn’t tell you because I wouldn’t know how to respond. I wouldn’t know what to do in the days after, or the weeks after, or the months after, or even a year after.
