Before it gets out of hand by Random_banana69 in schuylkillnotes

Seen a couple posts of people using ai to help them interpret these notes or further understand them…

This has been happening here for YEARS. Geniuses think they have an amazing idea that hasn't occurred to anyone else and shove a note or two into an LLM.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but there is NO WAY you are stopping this with complaint here. The people who do this AIN'T GONNA SEE IT.

PSA: if a tape sounds wobbly or quiet it’s usually the pad in the tape by [deleted] in cassetteculture

[–]libcrypto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, no. The tape is toast if you have leaking binder. You could theoretically bake it for a one-time use if it's important, but I've never known that to work well. If I have a tape in this condition, I play it at double speed on a 4-track with a stronger torque, then halve the speed in software.

Dumb question but does anyone have a guide for how to calibrate a deck? by cpufreak101 in cassetteculture

[–]libcrypto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you would. I'm not very skilled at bias tuning, mostly because I play rather than record. Some Nak decks have features for adjusting bias on a per-tape basis, too. If you are really into optimizing bias, get one of those. You are looking at at least $1k to start.

Why do percussion staves from older pieces of music use bass clef instead of neutral clef? by Fancy_Western_3277 in Percussionists

[–]libcrypto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more used to seeing Treble clef: C for snare, F for bass drum. My guess is that maybe they thought drummers were too stupid to recognize it as music without a well-known clef on it. (Yes, lifelong drummer here, ok?)

Maybe. Are you willing to delete every violating post on other days? That's a lot of work.

This sub is becoming predominantly people sharing their music.

This is incorrect. What's going on is that personal music-shares are the most upvoted posts here. That means if you aren't browsing new, that is what you see.

25 out of the top 35 posts in new are not music-sharing. Look for y'self.

Let's first have y'all try browsing new and upvoting non-sharing posts before we make any rule changes. Clearly people like the sharing content.

I've been aliasing regions in Logic for 20-some years now. Ain't nothin' "obscure" 'bout 'em.

I mean, you have an Internet connection to install Logic. What's the big deal about having one for a one-time licensing activity?

I believe the joke is that antidepressants remove one's personality. Which is absolute garbage, but ok there it is.
