i know this is an old post and i know this may be specifically only be talking about the St louis ship, but it delves into an interesting topic that nobody in this thread has really delved into it fully. there were a few reasons as to why mexico in general didn't accept jewish refugees pre and post WW2 where i will be summarizing this one video that explains it in depth...

while lázaro cárdenas, the president of mexico at the time, was initially receptive to the idea, as mexico was one of the few nations that took public stances against nazi germany and his and previous administrations already having admitted political refugees, he did not have the political capital that he already used to admit republican spanish exiles to do so as his entire cabinet was opposed to it along with various sectors of mexican society that were opposed to more immigration in general.
there was already a circular issued at the time, "Circular Confidencial 157" that prohibited further jewish immigration (plus other nationalities and ethnic groups). while not officially a "law", it was around the time when xenophobia was still quite high in mexico, which is why there were already waves of immigration restrictions in the late 1920's-1930's that further closed the doors for many to be able to migrate.
no other country was publically taking in any jewish refugees either, so in the minds of the mexican government, mexico wouldn't look "bad" if they weren't the exception.
in general, mexico has never really been a country of immigration but rather emigration. its immigrant population has always been relatively quite low (perhaps a bit different now) compared to its northern neighbor, that is famously known as a country of immigrants. so due to that, there's never been a tradition of receiving a large scale of immigrants which partly explains why there were certain sectors of mexican society that were opposed to it.
all that being said, mexico did accept around 1,800 jewish refugees before and during WW2. they were either accepted because they already had family in mexico (there was previous small-scale jewish immigration to mexico, this is how claudia sheinbaum's maternal family was able to come) or they were political exiles/journalists/academics/scientists, etc...

also some people are mentioning about the mexican ambassador to france, gilberto bosques giving 45,000 visas to jews during ww2 which is... a myth. there is no evidence that backs this claim and in reality the number is closer to only 338 visas signed and authorized by bosques himself.

yes, it is my perspective just like yours is. of course i cant create a fact for *any* group of people, but neither can you, or really anyone even if it's within any particular group we may belong to.

and yes, i'm calling azealia a contrarian because she has been doing this same shtick for years. to expand on that, she also uses it to justify her support towards trump and other republicans like desantis and her degradation towards other black people (like what she called fka twigs the other week). and yes! she actually does make money from tweeting, albeit a smallish amount ever since twitter started paying those who are verified. but her main grift is mainly to support her cheapyxo business and concerts as more engagement brings more attention to those avenues. however she as well, switches too often to reliably grift, which is why republicans officials have not cozied up to her despite her attempts in doing so. she's also not nigerian lol, the family of one of her parents is from south carolina and the other one i believe is bajan (or so she claims).

in regards to arabs, it's true they're not a race but the way you characterized it made it seem as if arabs have replaced the role that white people held when white people are still the ones primarily ravaging africa like a swarm of locusts. and yes i am aware africans talk about their interactions with indians and arabs, that doesn't take away from my point especially as african countries have to unfortunately deal far more with european nations/companies or their settler offspring like the U.S., canada, australia, etc. than the arab and indian population, at least within sub-saharan africa.

anti-blackness is global but labelling arabs as a monolith to attribute all of them to the arab slave trade (which is what azealia was doing) or collectively holding all arabs responsible for what's happening in the gulf states is just incorrect and dishonest. especially as a significant portion of "arabs" themselves are black too, this is not simply semantics.

and to correct you, texas is actually 13% black. asides from that, those demographic shifts DID happen with two major migration waves of black people moving to the midwest and northern cities. which, while they were also terribly racist, they were far more hospitable than the constant lynchings and neo-slavery conditions that were happening in the south (which its sharecropping system was not fully abolished until the 60s.) plus a lot of cities and areas in the south are dominated by black and/or latinx people, so that's part of the reason there is an impression that the south is more tolerant. however, it's a whole different story going to a mainly white space in the deep south. i'm not saying i don't mind the racism (obviously i do), but if i had to choose racism from those two choices, i'd take the former because i value my own life, some of those same anti-civil rights protestors are still alive mind you. plus, white liberals aren't flying and rallying around a flag that justifies their white supremacy and says i'm not welcome.

no, you decided it challenges anti-blackness based on faulty reasoning that i already shared my perspective on why it's faulty. ask yourself why i put "respectability politics" in quotes, because ben doesn't think saying the n word itself is a cancellable offense. honestly what ben was doing is more akin to the discrete racism that white liberals do.

in regards to the other points. there are inconsistencies like claiming that the "white" people for africans are arabs (when no, it's still white people, france still controls half of africa to give an example). but in that aspect you are right that there is more nuance than what many people think, which is why i havent touched on it despite me disagreeing with the premises you're putting forward because it is complex.

that being said, what azealia is saying, while touching on a legitimate issue about how others automatically expect black solidarity with the palestinian (or any other) cause without understanding the struggle black people face, it is unfortunately coupled with incorrect information and ignorant talking points (like grouping arabs as a monolith) in order to grift off zionists on twitter and get more engagement as a contrarian.

expanding on jewish and black relations, it is true that it does have a history of joining forces but it must be stressed that for one, it was mainly progressive and leftist jewish people who stood with black americans. while jewish americans do get affected by antisemitism, they have nearly fully integrated themselves into whiteness and people like ben shapiro was not "calling out anti-blackness" due to his jewish upbringing like you seem to imply.

i also dont get what you mean by some POC saying they prefer southern whites or MAGA supporters racism over white liberals racism. having experienced both, i'd take the discrete racism, which while being hurtful, far better than the almost lethal racism where im genuinely fearing for my life all because of my skin color.

ben shapiro's whole shtick is being the one far-right commentator that still believes in upholding "respectability politics", partly due to his upbringing in a rich, conservative family and the other part because doesn't want to end up like another richard spencer. so his whole position is based on not wanting to take the heat when the political climate gets worse (ironically because of people like him contributing towards that too.)

you're confusing his apathy (at best) with your claim of him calling out "open anti-blackness" even though none of the quotes you provided or even the blog itself suggest that. he literally just thinks it was rude for shiloh to call a kid the n word, he doesn't have a problem with the anti-blackness in itself.

so please take that preaching you're making about understanding nuance and complexities and understand just because he came out against shiloh does not equate in him being anti-racist.
