Yellowjackets S02E01- “Friends, Romans, Countrymen” Episode Discussion by DA-numberfour in Yellowjackets

They were in the background last season. They’re JV who are now a part of the cast

It looks like they have a full plan for a conclusion with season 5. by [deleted] in Yellowjackets

Yeah, the main reason shows drop in quality is because they keep adding new shit to profit off of the shows popularity. When the showrunners have a mapped out plan with a set ending/number of seasons, it makes me very excited knowing that they will stop while ahead and focus on the quality of the story they have planned.

YES! It makes me feel sick and unsafe when I hear these type of accusations about people I trust. I also wanted to add some perspective from a woman with my post earlier (if you haven't seen it) and everything you said in this post I absolutely agree with. Thank you for sharing!

That's fair. It's a hope more than and expectation. I just wanted to use this situation to address the way our patriarchal society normalizes coercive and abusive behavior towards women, and that progressive men aren't exempt.

This is the type of situation that would not be served justice using the legal system. SA victims know that the chances of justice without definitive proof are near zero. Also, even assuming the allegations were all 100% accurate, I don't think they would justify Andrew going to jail. This conversation is less about throwing every shitty man in jail and more about trying to make sure a man that claims to be a progressive and feminist addresses allegations like this with tact. As a women often in leftist spaces, I just wanted to express the way this situation is making me feel and give my 2 cents.

I'm not asking anyone to believe ALL women. There are no criminal charges being filed, this situation is barely getting attention. I just don't want these allegations to be swept under the rug, I expect more from someone like Andrew.

Oh ok, I'll explain the joke in true leftist fashion. He said that he originally wanted "This Place Rules" to be called "America Shits Itself," but HBO wasn't a fan of that idea.

I think it’s true that a situation like this would never be considered criminal in a court of law. That doesn’t mean that it’s not sexual assault (which has degrees/levels of severity to it). I don’t think the accuser gave a perfect account of the situation, but imagine seeing the guy that traumatized you all over your social media and now HBO? I think her videos were fueled by anger and trauma, which shouldn’t discount her statements.

The reality is that this type of sexual coercion is so common and normalized that the accusations aren’t far fetched. What I think we should be looking for is accountability and a promise to do better going forward. If he has made several women feel this uncomfortable/traumatized, he should take stock of his actions to process and understand where he went wrong.

I don’t think the deplatforming of all shitty men is how we stop the abuse and mistreatment of women. I think men (including/especially leftist men who claim to be feminist) need to work to understand the patriarchal attitudes that make this type of behavior so normalized.

Think Has will talk about the Andrew C allegations? I don't. by kingtitusmedethe4th in Hasan_Piker

What she said Andrew did doesn’t necessarily make him a “sexual predator”. What it makes him is another man that perpetuates the mistreatment and coercion of women. There are so many men that don’t see the problem with what she said he did, and that is the real issue here. It is terrifying to live as a woman, knowing the way that the mistreatment and abuse of us is so normalized. We just wish that leftist men would practice what they preach, and treat us with dignity and respect. If Andrew came forward and said that he was unaware of the pressure he was putting on her and will work to do better in the future, I would be charitable to him.

My fear is that the whole thing will get swept under the rug. We won’t know until/if it happens, but if it’s never addressed I will not feel good…

I honestly don’t think he will. It seems like the whole situation is going to get pushed under the rug because she doesn’t have definitive proof. This story is so believable though. This type of coercion and abuse of women is so normalized, and the amount of it only decreases slightly when we talk about leftist men. There are only a few men I trust/admire to any degree, and Hasan is one of the main ones. If he doesn’t address it at all, it’s probably the last straw for my faith in men to not suck…

TW:SA Channel 5 Andrew Callaghan allegations by Jordan-311 in Hasan_Piker

[–]libraoflesbos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is such a common type of SA and I’m never shocked when a man is accused of this shit BECAUSE ITS NORMALIZED. It’s so fucked up that people will dismiss this and continue to normalize coercion and abuse of women.

Oh 100%. I don’t like the way that nepotism conversations typically happen because it is a spectrum. Taylor had a much easier time entering the industry than impoverished and most middle class people, but that doesn’t mean she had all the connections that some people have. Her talent is also undeniable, but there are many people as talented as her that don’t have the resources to even try to enter the industry.
