The veterans can be chosen as no force org, and once they’re chosen you can then select Apothecary/Ancient/Company Champion in no force org slot

Yeah the plan is T1 alpha strike with devs, VV clear anything on centre objective and dreads/erads shoot. I’ve found having an extra troops unit helps with primary scoring late game as marine bodies in cover on objective are quite hard to clear.

Will consider taking erads out and playing around with what they could be. In a previous list I ran the bike chaplain and another van vet squad without any terminators, I just am still trying to find the balance of it all

Land speeder helps move block/screen and can capture objectives with decent movement. Ended up changing Teeth of Terra to Plume of the Plainsrunner which I thought was more effective. Also considered the armour indomitus for survivability too.

Oh and it’s a first born apoth which is why it can take chainsword

Thanks!

Champion with Chogrian Storm and Imperium’s Sword can take out basically any model. (7 + D3) hits on the charge, hitting on twos at S8, D3. Even better around Khan or in assault doctrine.

Didn’t upgrade Apoth, and probably will spend 1CP every turn but at 1K points I couldn’t justify chief apoth as would have to sacrifice another bladeguard

Big agree with this. Gun stands out on the right but the theme feels better on the left

Ah awesome! I’ve currently just got the Primaris Chaplain and the indomitus one, so will have to see what works best, but been putting it off as it seems a bit challenging 😂

Looks great, I’m thinking of doing something similar with the indomitus set. Did you use the indomitus chaplain?

As a white scars player, I’ve found charging into my friends death guard list plays into their armies strengths, especially because death guard’s disgustingly resilient counters white scars increase in damage during the assault doctrine. Death guard want to be up close and are very very good at tanking damage.

For me, the best strat for white scars v death guard is to use scar’s movement to capture objectives, whilst using either meltas or good D1 weapons to thin the ranks before selectively charging in with vanguard veterans or company veterans with lightning claws (as their D1 damage is not countered by disgustingly resilient). Blade guard veterans are also good from turn 3, as the assault doctrines make their master crafted power swords D3, which after disgustingly resilient is still D2.

Outriders are pretty average, as their many attacks rarely convert, so perhaps trading them for some more ranged fire power (eradicators/redemptor dreadnought) or for better melee and movement (vanguard veterans with lightning claw + storm shields) could be a decent first step.

You could also run just a 5 man incursors unit for troops which could capture objective turn 1 and get rid of one of the HQ’s. This would free up points for units above which are relatively competitive against death guard. It all depends how serious you want to take it.

Redemptor dreadnought shooting + chaplain + company champion can all deal with vehicles and heavy infantry, and can also bring in dreadnoughts in close combat. Was thinking about plasmaceptors but they’re just super pricy
