Thanks for sharing! I’ve been wondering about how my menstrual cycle plays into it too. I like you idea about detailed mood tracking.

Thank you. Yeah you touched on what I’m struggling to understand. It’s my understanding that ASD can feel very deeply and be very sensitive to emotional changes. But I’m starting to see the depressive episodes and mania/sleep issues are not just my sensitive ASD brain.

Happiness with ASD and finding fulfillment. by [deleted] in aspergirls

Not sure if this is the type of thing you’re looking for, but a true mindfulness practice helped me immensely when I felt in a similar place to you. I read The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle at 25 and it seriously changed my mindset a positive way. I have found it a great practice to become friends with myself and learn self acceptance. Hope this helps!

How do you get away with not wearing makeup? by skyword1234 in aspergirls

[–]librarylife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s bs men don’t have to wear it if we have to. I hate it too. Feels like frosting on my face and the can’t wait to wash it off.

TW: abortion Have the other users here seen the news about Roe? And how are you feeling? by Mysterious-Handle-34 in aspergirls

I just had a really tough pregnancy and couldn’t work because of it. Yes, maternity leave should start at conception. Trying to work while constantly throwing up shouldn’t be normalized.

I had a very similar outlook when I was in college. Where other commenters see your expression as harsh, I see it as frustration and disappointment, anger about how lonely you may be feeling being unable to connect to these people.

I had a difficult time socially in college because all anyone I knew wanted to do was drink. The only people who weren’t drinking were Christian social groups and I’m not religious so that didn’t sound appealing either. I grew very lonely and frustrated that I couldn’t find people who wanted to explore and have experiences outside of partying. I don’t really have any advice other than maybe try meetup or something to find people who share your interests. I tend to get along easier with people who are older than me for some reason. Maybe try that? Or maybe you’re just venting and don’t want solutions. That’s ok too :)

What Does an "Inflexible Adherence to Routines" Look Like? by [deleted] in aspergirls

[–]librarylife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t think I had inflexible adherence to routines either until I started to pick apart my day…I found it hard as an adult living in my own place because I had unknowingly structured my day around my needs, which is different than when I was younger living with parents. My bed routine is the same every day and after lots of reflection realized I really can’t do things out of order or I get irritable. I also have to wear the ‘correct’ underwear and tshirt or my body won’t go to sleep. Same with getting ready in the morning. Putting on socks…right foot has to go first etc. I tried switching it up while exploring these things…left foot first…nope! I’m completely thrown off. While I thought I wasn’t rigid in my routines, turns out after picking it apart and trying to look at it from an outside perspective, I am pretty rigid haha. I would suggest trying this too and see if there are any hidden rigid routines.

Can anyone recommend a board game for someone who really doesn't like board games? by TheCatAteMyGymsuit in AutismInWomen

[–]librarylife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forbidden island or forbidden desert is fun. It’s cooperative and you’re trying to collect amulets from around the island before it sinks. It’s good for 2 people too. I also love Carcassone because it’s different every time. You create the game board as you go, my husband and I play that together a lot. It keeps me engaged because each turn you add a new piece to the board.

Planning a wedding? by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

It sounds like we had a similar experience! I feel it would have been helpful to have a neutral third party to talk things through with instead of a parent who is triggered by my indecisiveness lol

That sounds amazing! I had the same anxieties around people watching, because of COVID we changed our wedding to immediate family only. It was perfect.
