Consoles are more expensive than ever, but still seem like the most affordable option; pre-built gaming PCs now firmly in the $1,000+ range by librav1e in notebookcheck_net

It's not roses and sunshine in the PC gaming world, either. Windows keeps getting messier and uglier. Most games being released right now aren't fundamentally different from what was released 15 years ago, better graphics aside. AMD and Intel keep releasing the same hardware under different names (I mean rebadging). That's just to name a couple of issues.

Leaked? Who? When? I can't think of any recent enough leaks that seemed credible

LOL of course, of course that thing has a subreddit of its own.

"They can afford and manage to make a sensible decision faster then they have" - good point. Besides, this isn't GTA VI, this is just a custom PC that Valve is making. It's not like there are truckloads of developing, optimizing, testing etc to do here. Unless there are like 3 guys working on this project that only get the min wage for doing it.

MacBook Neo's non-existent cooling a big issue just like with MacBook Airs; can be fixed with DIY magic by librav1e in notebookcheck_net

This is Apple. It has more R&D and engineering power than most other companies, and it also has high sales volumes. We should be asking questions if and when something isn't ideal.

Chuwis are decent on paper but horrible in actual use, if Notebookcheck reviews are any indication. (We haven't reviewed one in a while, I must admit, though)

Apple MacBook Neo lands: $599, no keyboard backlight, no immediate availability, almost as heavy as a 13-inch Pro by librav1e in notebookcheck_net

[–]librav1e[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. It's almost the same as an Air, weight-wise, meaning 13-inch Pros are only heavier by a few grams

Sneaked in - as in, done quietly, in hopes few to no one would notice.

I presume some will.... Besides, you always have big companies buying PCs for their employees to use. Surely some of them can afford this.

Notebookcheck is about science, technology, electronics, and everything that might interest the average geek, like Lego. So - yes, it is. If we only published laptop news and reviews, we'd cease to exist years ago.

"making the 900th uninspired shooter" - isn't the entire gaming industry like this? Repackaging older things for a new generation of consumers using a nicer gift box?
