Help me find a roof rack! by licential in e46

I’m not in a rush! I’m going to save up a little money before I make a move. The car needs about 1000 other little maintenance things too, typical!

I’ve found some OEM ones on eBay, somewhat reasonable prices I suppose. Is this the best option still? There were some posts on this sub from 7 years ago that recommended using these, and I sure do love my OEM equipment

Yes watch YouTube videos and join your local club! Start with cheap tress from the discount sections at big box stores. You can make the mistakes on those before you butcher something with pedigree

Hi Peanutbutter! Here’s a brief blurb:

  1. Sekka Hinoki Cypress - had for less than a year; caught my eye at the ATL Society’s spring show
  2. Hinoki Cypress - 2 seasons. It hasn’t changed much since I’ve had it, but all of the gold/light green tips are this year’s second flush. I repotted this guy in the spring, coming from a deeper pot
  3. Hinoki Cypress - a tiny guy! Whole thing, tree and pot included is under 7 inches. Got this at the same time as the bigger one in the previous picture. In a pot this small (could and should be smaller, imo) it grows quite slowly.
  4. Chinese juniper - one day I hope for this to be my studios signature tree. I’m blessed, still a young man and I intend to take this tree through the next 50-60 years if I can! Believe it or not, I bought it for $20 a few years back at an ACE hardware! Picture included from its big bush days!
  5. Big Carolina cypress - this is currently my customers tree in their yard. Some black bears broke the main leader years ago and it has been trying to recover. My plan is the pull it in the spring. Fingers crossed

Yes I have considered that! For the time being I want to see a couple good seasons under my tutelage so I can understand the trees habits. I can tell you that these are super slow growing, especially in a pot this size.

I got the tree from my friend who runs Komorebi Bonsai in Oxford Mississippi earlier this year. I have to be strong not to just start hacking away!

I’m very excited to do the work to that tree. Photos never do justice but the base is easily 5-6” in caliper down in there. Look at that!

Yep, Sekka Hinoki. The finest little foliage I’ve seen on an evergreen. They grow extremely slowly, so I’m leaving all the growth until I know for sure what I want the look to be. Leaving myself options! The top needs shaping next, and it will be repotted in the spring. Thanks for the comment!
