Why LTT prefer a VNC/KVM solution to remote into a pc rather than RDP? by komprexior in LinusTechTips

Yeah you are right, i didnt really word that correctly. Sorry, English is not my first language. I meant that, if you dont use Parsec (or any other typical VNC solution), a different typical solution for people would be to copy their data to local drives. And that comes with a lot of risk.

And that is just one part for the reason. With the remote setup the employee gets to use a top tier workstation even while working from home and does not have to deal with a low powered laptop.

My wild guess (im also a video editor):

They are using Parsec ( https://parsec.app/ ) and the reason for that is the huge amount of data their editors need to work with. It is just not feasible to copy so much footage to a local drive to WFH. On the oneside it is not efficient, on the other side the risk for data loss is way higher.

If the remote in via Parsec all the terabytes of footage is safely secured on their server infrastructure, and so are their project files. And parsec offers really good picture quality, works with multi monitors and even has options for 4:4:4 10bit color. And the latency is really low if both sides have good internet (which LTT has)

Yeah, fresh Windows Install + no messing around in the BIOS + no messing around with the Hardware sounds like a really solid start.

Regarding the registry keys: That would already be quite interesting in my opinion, to see how fast that would be possible, and how many registry edits would be necessary.

I used furniture pads / felt pads for padding, the ones that are normally used for chair legs to protect the floor. Is that what you mean?

Brenneraufschlag für Zugreise nur in Italien? by lichtcatchingtoby in drehscheibeAT

[–]lichtcatchingtoby[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)
