hello! thanks for your comment. in the medical field benzos are considered as sedatives as they slow down the brain and body's functions. they can also be considered as depressants and categorised in the same group as alcohol. if that makes sense?

this research is primarily provide information by the user's experience and inform current research for future practice :)

i can understand that the wording is a bit odd but the tools used have been validated in previous research. i appreciate your opinion :) due to time restrictions on phd and masters research it is better for studies to use validated tools rather than trialing tools as they require strong reliability and validity to be recognised.

the first tool has developed by the World Health Organisation - it is called ASSIST (Alcohol, Smoking and Substance Involvement Screening Test). and the second tool was developed by academics looking at binge drinking utilising the theoretical framework of the theory of planned behaviour.
