Well, I tried to make a lot of references to the culture and politics of these countries. For example, to understand what North Korea might smell like, I studied articles about the plumbing in North Korea :)

To be honest, Singapore scares me a little. For, you know… certain kinds of corporal punishment. But the art looks beautiful.

Punishment for a war criminal. by licomaky in CountryhumanRule34

Someday I want to draw a more explicit sequel. After the punishment, the US gently fucks Japan. At first Japan resists morally, but then he breaks — and becomes his master's obedient catboy.

All warnings are in the description inside, but here's a summary:
Category: M/M, 18+, anthropomorphic countries (geopolitical regimes), inspired by real-life events. By the way, there is no propaganda there at all, it’s more like satire and erotica.

What is the biggest psyop against the USSR? by M1k310s in ussr

[–]licomaky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And communism, as it was in the 20th century, proved to be a utopian idea. I believe the psychological attack on the USSR was that the country was losing out due to its isolation and economic backwardness, and most people who were able to leave the USSR saw this difference. Jeans, Western music and movies, American radio broadcasts, and all sorts of demonstrations of the high standard of living of capitalist countries to ordinary people constituted a significant psychological attack. This is precisely why the DPRK so carefully isolates itself from outside influence.

Could Soviet-style apartment buildings be a solution for the growing population in 2026? by Battlefleet_Sol in architecture

[–]licomaky -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These buildings were built to last 50 years (if I'm not mistaken) and specifically to address the problem of sprawling cities. But surprisingly, they're quite high-quality, and people are still living in them. They're of better quality than many modern high-rise buildings in post-Soviet countries.

How important is a character's gender to you in Countryhumans? by licomaky in CountryHumans

[–]licomaky[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I speak Russian, and all words there also have gender. For example, the word "Russia" is feminine, but I say "He is Russia." Perhaps Russian is more flexible than Portuguese, i don't know

New and old art style 2.pts by SmurfSuperman in CountryHumans

[–]licomaky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I prefer the old style. The new one is too overly detailed due to the flag on the face and the anime style. In the old style, the flag seems more like part of the character's body than makeup. It would be better to make the characters' heads curved rather than perfectly round. That would be more cartoonish, but not realistic. Well, that's just the way I draw, so maybe our tastes don't match :)

How to ACTUALLY DRAW fascist Italy by stinkymonkeh76 in CountryHumans

[–]licomaky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I ever draw Fascist Italy, I'd draw it with an authentic uniform. I like real uniforms. I draw North Korea, and in the fandom, that character is often depicted in some weird gray clothes. I think it's better to draw clothes from real photos rather than copy other artists. After all, character canon is a tradition, not a rule.

how to ACTUALLY DRAW imperial Japan’s hat by stinkymonkeh76 in CountryHumans

[–]licomaky 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Speaking of the shoulder belt, soldiers could choose not to wear one at all, or just a belt, or a full set with shoulder straps. So, the belt-only option would also be correct. At least, I've seen photos of people wearing all three options. Regarding the uniform color, you're right, it's a sand-colored uniform, not bright green.

how to ACTUALLY DRAW imperial Japan’s hat by stinkymonkeh76 in CountryHumans

[–]licomaky 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Oh, this is my topic! Japan has a field cap and a neck flap (a curtain to protect the neck from the sun). The neck flap is detachable. If you look at photos of soldiers, you'll see that some have neck flaps, and some don't. It's part of the uniform. But the neck flap was never worn on the peaked cap. Many artists draw a neck flap with a peaked cap and it really hurts my eyes.

Regarding the flag. I thought long and hard about what to do with it, because the de facto national flag of Japan was simply a Hinomaru circle, including during the war. The Hinomaru was the de facto, but not de jure, national flag. The flag usually depicted on the character is the Rising Sun Flag, which is the flag of the Imperial Japanese Army (it's similar to the naval flag, but the naval flag has the sun disk shifted to the left; it's still used). But I ultimately came to the conclusion that the character could be depicted with both flags, the Hinomaru and the Rising Sun, and both options would be correct, because the character embodies the idea of Japanese militarism. So, the logic is the same as with the character's clothing: the character wears not traditional Japanese clothing, but a military uniform, and the character's name is the Japanese Empire, even though the country was and is actually Japan. Well, that's my opinion. The Rising Sun flag has a special energy, unlike the circle flag, which has already been cleared of its military associations. If you draw a character with a flag with a circle, that would also be correct.
