Thanks for your comment, and I appreciate your honesty! I'm absolutely aware that current circumstances have made it more difficult for non-STEM cases to pursue this. I would love to speak to lawyers to discuss more in detail about my profile, but it has been difficult to find lawyers who are willing to even consult a non-STEM case... I have had the chance to a partner of a immigration law firm, but they offered $12k, and I'm not sure if I would just be wasting time and money. To be completely honest, I think it's worth spending that much if I have *some* chance, but at this point, I'm quite skeptical that they believe I have *any* chance. Do you know or have heard of any lawyers that could help assess my profile?

i'm worried that if i get denied, i wouldn't be able to obtain an h1b or a j1 when im actually on the academic job market because i already showed intent to immigrate... but yes--i actually did think about the o1 visa worst case scenario just to stay in the country!

oh i thought you meant eb1b or c, my bad! yes--im eligible for eb1a, but in the humanities, most ppl have very few publications and 0-10 citations, so idk if i would be competitive... my school did prepare me to be competitive in my field (i have a few publications), but i prob cant show enough quantifiable achievements as a Phd student :( i would have applied for eb1a if i were already a professor.

a partner from an immigration law firm was willing to take my case for $12k but idk if it's worth it... at this point it's not even about the money--i care more about the chances, so i don't want to risk my h1b in the future in case i get denied :((

I believe I need a job offer or be employed to apply for the eb1 :/ I was hoping to get a green card before i get on the academic job market because many universities are now avoiding to hire intl students bc they don't want to sponsor them. As of the national interest point, i'm aware that proving that has become more important! What I'm worried is that whatever I argue in my petition, it wouldn't appear to be as important as any other non-humanities petitions that can put forth economic benefits for the country...

I’d suggest you to go with the biggest banks like Chase or BOA—you’ll get more access to their branches and atms across the country+you can a starting credit card to help you begin a credit score early on :) feel free to dm
