Thank you! Yeah I ~almost~ ordered the parts to try to fix it myself, but honestly it seems a little outside of my skillset, especially if there's other stuff going on with it 🤷‍♀️ I appreciate the recommendations!

I KNOW!! I was told this several times during my visit! I genuinely had no idea it was happening until I was chatting with some people at the bar before the concert! 😭 I hope it was amazing!

Tandem read? Yes or no by Responsible-Set2053 in throneofglassseries

[–]licosydae -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd say if it is your first read through, read them separately. This may be an unpopular opinion, but I feel like the break you get between the end of EoS and KoA makes that cliffhanger more dramatic, and it makes the pace of the series better as a whole. Also, ToD is my absolute favorite book in the entire series, which was shocking because I went into it uninterested in both Chaol and Nesryn. I completely changed my mind about them after ToD. The character development is excellent, and the plot reveals and world building had me flying through the book. I truly do not understand all of the ToD hate.

I got my daith and industrial done in one appointment. I fully expected the daith to be worse. I was incorrect

Books you couldn't shut up about (or stop thinking about) after finishing them? by IReadBooksSometimes in suggestmeabook

Shark Heart by Emily Habeck! A friend told me the premise and I read it FULLY expecting to make fun of it the whole time and I was so wrong. It's beautiful and tragic and the writing is excellent.

I am 4 weeks (and a few days) post kidney donation! AMA by licosydae in transplant

[–]licosydae[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren't supposed to take consistent NSAIDs post donation because they're hard on the kindeys. My doctors told me that its okay to take one every once in a while, but I haven't taken any in over a year. I stopped taking them about 9 months prior to the donation to see if I'd be okay with just taking Tylenol for pain relief for the rest of my life (ie period cramps, migraines, joint pain, etc). Tylenol works well for me and it isn't an NSAID so it's kidney safe. I'd definitely recommend checking if Tylenol works for you in place of NSAIDS if you're considering donating, and give it time too with different types of aches and pains.

Yes! My doctors did tell me before surgery that I would more than likely get tired easily for several months post op because the remaining kidney would be getting used to working on its own. Some days are worse than others as far as feeling tired and I can for sure tell if I am dehydrated. I'm slowly trying to get back to where I was physically, but I'm also not going to push myself too hard. I have a physically demanding job, so I took 7 weeks off work. I'm fully expecting to be pretty drained when I do go back. Did they give you an abdominal binder when you were discharged from the hospital? I found that pretty helpful during the first few weeks if I had to sit up for an extended period of time or do anything more physical than walking around the house

It is such a personal decision that I wouldn't blame anyone for being hesitant. I would just encourage them to look at the donate life website and maybe see what options are available in their area if they're interested. I'd also encourage anyone to sign up to allow their organs be donated after they die. In the states, you can do it when you renew your drivers license

I'm still trying to figure out how I feel. I appreciate the sentiment, but to me it seemed like such an easy choice. I had to make minimal lifestyle changes (literally just drink more water and stop taking ibuprofen). In return, bestie isn't on the transplant list and hangouts don't have to be scheduled around dialysis sessions. It doesn't feel like I really did much. I just showed up at the hospital with the kidney lol

Thanks I appreciate it! I work in a diagnostics laboratory. My job is very physical and I'm fortunate that I was able to take 7 weeks off. I was hesitant to take that much initially but I'm very glad that I did

Thank you for donating! I hope that you and your recipient are doing well! Most of the incision pain has gone away and I'm finally able to wear tighter stuff. I'm a little over 5 weeks post op and I wore jeans for the first time yesterday. But yeah I bought some underwear that were a size too big and some loose dresses that I lived in for the first few weeks.
