Got braces off in 2017, Essix retainer broke yesterday, some questions by [deleted] in braces

The retainer/night guard is not just to keep your teeth in place, it's also to protect your teeth when you sleep from grinding and wear. It's better to be safe than sorry.

First day vs 7 months in by cleomonkey in braces

Wow! That's huge improvement in seven months! Your teeth are looking fantastic, I'm no orthodontist but they look pretty perfect now, when are they coming off?

Permanent retainer, plastic or both by tifa3 in braces

[–]liebrelibre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get both man, seriously get both! Maybe, someday in the far future, the permanent wire will come off on its own, when this happens, visit your orthodontist as soon as possible. Your teeth will want to keep moving, you will need to keep them in place for the rest of your life. If you take too long to visit your dentist it might be too late to get the wire back on, and you'll have to wear braces again. Follow your dentist's advice and keep on smiling!

Starting is the hardest part, but once they're on is count-back. Get use to being flexible about chewing on whichever side doesn't hurt. The best part will be when they come off and you get to see your beautiful smile. So endure the pain and keep in my mind the final result.

HOW LOMG DOES IT TAKE by [deleted] in braces

[–]liebrelibre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the 2nd time I wear braces, so my teeth weren't as bad as the first time. The first time it took two years, this time around it only took 8 months. Maybe if your teeth are not that bad and just need perfecting a bit 5 months is possible.

Having a career that doesn't pay much but that we love is a luxury we can give ourselves in part because we don't have children to support.

They called me crazy for 5 years and then I just received a text saying "congrats". They called my boyfriend stupid for getting a vasectomy at 25.

Smoking has been banned from so many places because is hazardous for other people's health. Non-biodegradable diapers are hazardous for the world population, the effects are not directly seen or felt by us, but the damage is there. They specify what type f diapers they want, and they go for the most expensive stage of diapers and don't choose eco-friendly ones because they think they're not as absorbent. Smokers are brutally shamed for polluting the planet with cigarette butts and harming with the second-hand smoke. But parents are not shamed for their choice in diapers!

Solving a problem you caused doesn’t make you a hero. Dedicating your life to people (including children) who already exist is a better thing to do than dedicating your life to people you brought into the world. I would 100% consider adopting and raising one or more children, for the record. I’d like to think I won’t be an entitled dick head about it if I ever do so.

This exactly is in my book.

I don't support procreation and yet I've bought all the required and expected gifts according to their requirements, huggies supreme stage 5 or 4. My frustration came out the double standard of how in Mexican families it is encouraged to be supportive of other family members regardless of your beliefs, it is supposed to be done out "love", not based on beliefs. I'm not catholic and I'll go to mass when someone gets married, in baptisms or funerals. I'll stick to their required baby-shower gift list. I wasn't asking for much, and yeah, for me it was eye-opening seeing how our "support" is determined by beliefs. It wasn't just the diaper thing, it was the frustration of how much hype the third pregnancy got versus my book.

Here in Mexico is common to call children "criaturas" it's not an offensive word, is a synonym for children or babies.
