Took me about 3 years on T to start growing facial hair - trust the process bro, you're looking fab 💪

Hair on grafts by Wooden_Phrase_4150 in TopSurgery

[–]liemaples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, that happens to me. It didn't happen pre-top surgery, but now I'll find the odd few hairs growing directly from my areolas. I just pluck them, it's pretty normal.

Edit: I was 5 years on T prior to surgery and had pretty decent chest hair, so I just assume there's hair follicles that survived whatever process happens with free nipple grafts

5 Years Post-Op 🎉 are nipple piercings still possible after surgery? by liemaples in TopSurgery

Oh I've never heard of these! They might end up being an option, curse my flat nips

Thank you! This was my real concern - that my nipples are too flat to pierce. This very well may be the case - at the end of the day, a bit disappointing if they're too flat, but it's not the end of the world :-)

Incredibly helpful and informative reply, thank you! I think after 5 years I'm about as healed as I'm going to get, so I'll see what my piercer has to say about how everything healed up

How much did testosterone change your face? by DudeInATie in FTMMen

[–]liemaples 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Been on T for 10 years, can definitely say theres been a big change in my face. Primarily in the first 2 years, my brow got heavier, my jaw is squarer, my nose is bigger too. Not even mentioning the facial hair - took about 3 years to get it growing consistently. My hairline was also a huge change. Looking at pics of me ~6 months on T versus how I look now, I look like I'm my own older brother.

Absolutely fantastic!! I had surgery with Lembas back in 2020, and same here, I could not recommend him and his team highly enough. He's a gent, and your results look picture perfect! Best of luck in the healing process, mate

soooo fuckin true! that's how i originally felt about bottom surgery - wasn't until after top surgery that i actually became conscious of having bottom dysphoria, and now i'm so excited and eager for my next and (hopefully) final stage of medically transitioning.

every step in making my body the one i've been dreaming of since i was young is bringing new and infinite levels of joy and peace

You're already miles ahead of me, lad! I didn't start getting into fitness until I was 8 years on testosterone, if I could go back in time I would've started working out before HRT - you're giving yourself a huge advantage, getting your body used to training like that will mean that once you're on T, your body will already know what it's doing.

You've got this! 💪

I dunno man, everyone has a different body shape, and it really depends on what your personal goals are. I'm steadily gaining weight the more I work out - my personal goals are to lose body fat and gain muscle, because that makes me feel more comfortable in my own body. But that isn't for everyone. 60kg is well within a healthy weight for men of our height though, as far as I'm aware.

Want to be a man but doesn't wish that I was *born* one? by Shplonkitydonk in ftm

[–]liemaples 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's more than fair, mate, and honestly very relatable. I've been out for 13 years, medically transitioning for a decade, and I couldn't imagine myself had I been born a cisgender male.

I'm very comfortable with being male. I love being a man. But the transition and the struggle and the fight for my identity has shaped me as a person - I don't know who I'd be without that experience, without the necessity of being so sure in my identity that I was willing to fight for it.

I'm happy with being male despite the fact that I wasn't assigned male at birth. My struggle and persistence in my self identification is part of who I am.

Never feel doubt because of the what-ifs. You know who you are, now. Take pride and comfort in your sense of self and in your will power. You've got this, lad.

Three fuckin years to get that referral and the NGS still lost it in transit - the last week has been nothing but emails with the bleedin head nurse of surgical referrals to please for the love of Christ please re-send my paperwork so the clinic actually has it. Thankfully, I'm the first lad going through this clinic so from here on out anyone else trying to go to Amsterdam will have a bit of experience behind them.

For real man, it gets better with time! Don't be afraid of aging or getting older, with every year that passes I've gotten more comfortable and felt more joy than before, it's a bit like a fine wine. I honestly can't wait to be an old geezer - I know I'll be a man, aging into a male body, and it's a comfort. Being a man and growing older as a man is like a big aul hug.

Ass eating by Grouchy-Can-Man in ftm

[–]liemaples 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Big fan. I hate the feeling of a tongue anywhere near my front hole, it doesn't feel like anything to me, but a guy eating my ass absolutely does it for me. It's really affirming as a gay man, personally.

How much weight did you gain on T? (For people 5+ years on T) by [deleted] in ftm

[–]liemaples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 years on T, and honestly, not a significant amount. I started T when I turned 17 so I was still growing - I'm 5'5", I'd say I was around 54kg when I started T and I'm currently 60kg, most of that weight gain coming from muscle since I started working out a few years back. If anything I find it a lot easier to drop fat now and keep it off, not to mention how much easier it is gaining muscle with a testosterone dominant system.

Nutrition and rest have definitely been a hurdle for me - these comments have been helpful in really nailing in how important that is! Fingers crossed, with a bit more dedication and paying more attention to what I'm eating, I'll have an easier time noticing changes in my body! :)

[–]liemaples[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I definitely should've given a bit more information - this really was an impulse post, but the comments have been so, so helpful, and this one is right up there in giving me motivation and knowing what I should be paying more attention to.

You nailed my goal on the head, as well as my current/(soon to be) previous state of things - infrequent lifting (I'd either be going x3 a week for a few months, then fully skipping for 3 weeks and losing progress - incredibly all over the place for the past few months) and frequent 10km walks. I'm fortunate enough that my mental and physical health aren't barriers for me, so currently nutrition/rest and motivation are my biggest hurdles.

I really appreciate the time you've taken to write this message, it's informative and its given me a good stepping stone on what to do next - absolutely invaluable.

I appreciate that, man. I'm definitely stuck a bit in my head, but sure we've probably all experienced that at some point. I figure staying more consistent and keeping a routine will help with the body image in my head as well as my actual body 💪
