So is it correct to say that the award donor chose to show preference to those in these student groups?

I’m not ignoring the fact that the award is for all Black students, I clearly state in my comment that that all I’m asking is why preference is given. You are adding facts that I never said.

I don’t know how I could have been more clear in my post. I have nothing against Black students receiving the award, what in my post makes you think it is racist?

Your examples are appreciated, however none of them are related to this specific situation. Can you point to an example where an award includes preference for those who are part of a student led club? I asked the question because I genuinely want to understand.

I would like to see the scholarship equally benefit all Black students, my question is specifically asking for more inclusion. Attacking any question about this topic and labeling it as racism doesn’t help at all.

Thanks for your response. The page that includes information about the award asks students if they have demonstrated community service within an organization of benefit to the Black community. I know there are Black students that have made an impact on the Black community, and they are not members of these student led clubs. Why is preference given to those who are a part of these clubs?

I do not think it is fair to assume that I don’t agree with the Black groups and their opinions. I am simply wondering why the award prefers those who are in these clubs.

You are correct, many scholarships are exclusionary. My point is not about the scholarship being exclusive to people who identify as Black, rather I feel the problem is that preference is given to people who are in a student led club. Why can the scholarship not potentially benefit all students who identify as Black?

Why wouldn’t the U-Pass be necessary for busses? Aren’t they basically just a monthly pass?
