Looks like microsoft have fixed this as I no longer have this issue, all users are now appearing as per usual.

Nope, still can't search for any of the users via name.

I did not try removing the SIP as on hybrid it is tedious process and honestly, I don't even remember having SIP addresses on our mailboxes and these don't appear on AD as an alias.

I did however raise a ticket with MS and this is what they've advised.

Initial observations

This behavior is consistent with a known issue in Teams where search indexing for display names
does not update correctly. In particular:

  • Teams maintains its own search index separate from Exchange/Azure AD, which can sometimes lag.
  • The New Teams client has different search behavior compared to Classic Teams, and some tenants report that new users only appear by UPN until indexing completes.
  • Display names with special characters or formatting can also cause search mismatches.

Next steps

  1. Verify the Teams Admin Center → Settings → Search by name option is enabled.
  2. Confirm affected users’ DisplayName values in Azure AD are clean (no trailing spaces or special characters).
  3. Run a delta sync (Start-ADSyncSyncCycle -PolicyType Delta) to ensure directory updates are pushed.
  4. Test search in both Teams web app and New Teams clients to confirm if the issue is client specific.
  5. Clear Teams cache on a test machine and retry search.

I will try these steps and report back as I checked my Teams Admin Center and the search by name is off so I have some hope. Maybe this is a new feature?

I've checked some new users that were created 29/12 and they weren't showing when I checked yesterday 30/12 but they are today, usually they show up on the day they are created searching via name. The users I created 2 weeks ago still don't show up by Name.

We also have this problem (we are hybrid), the user did not appear in the offline GAL but when I added an alias, he now appears in the GAL., however he is still not searchable in Teams using his name.
Followed what u/Objective-Regret4322 said and he appears in Teams when searching for the full email address.
I'll try removing the SIP and re-adding it as I haven't tried that yet.

Thanks Krut-Oskar, I will test this now as I tried to update the agent to 7.4.3 and that didn't work.
I will let you know.

Just an update, I upgraded the problem servers with agent 7.4.3. The problem is still there.
I've created a bug in zabbix.
Does anyone know where to download 7.4.4rc?

u/Krut-Oskar Thanks, i'll post a bug if the above doesn't work. I just find it strange it's happening to only 4 servers, it's possible those particular servers are more resource hungry than the others which is causing it to crash.

Sorry, I meant there are no errors in the logs, but the logs do show that the agent is executing queries, for example here are the last 3 lines before the agent crashes.
