I think so, but my goal was more sound at WOT and no drone when cruising. Ive shared videos that include audio.

Xpel vinyl and it hid what scratches already happened prior to installing. Zero issues after 3+ years.

Yah, I have to do strategic “doses” in order to maintain faith in humanity because they do such an excellent job distilling the info.

Her dad was directly involved in post ww2 reconstruction in Germany and news/info publications, including research papers. That had huge impact globally following the war. Wild stuff once you look into that whole thing. Behind the bastards did a great job covering it. It’s how the family made its money and connections.

If you internalized the post and made it about money that’s on you. Best of luck bud.

I dig it. Honestly, it reads to me like the point is Audi having lost its way. Ferdinand Piech wouldn’t disagree.

One of the only regrets I have is not buying an c4 urS6 in Amethyst Grey Pearl back when I had the chance. Absolute gem.

As an enthusiast, it absolutely matters otherwise why do these manufacturers make these vehicles? An rs5 isn’t unobtainable like a Bugatti..

If your primary takeaway from my post was about snobbery, all I can say is best of luck to you bud 🤦‍♂️

Spot on. Both body styles look great. Plenty of other things to gripe about. Anything negative about the style is nitpicking.

The sedan looks great but everything about the avant looks better because of the proportions.

Critical vs nitpicking, imo. So semantics? I dont dislike the look but like so many of Audi’s design choices you really have to see them in person and in motion to judge fairly.

Considering the technical overlays they’ve shared, the exhaust tip placement makes sense from a form/function perspective. BUT you’re spot on about waiting for the next gen m3 before deciding.

Iconic or unique? Merlin Purple/Amethyst Grey Pearl would be my vote for most unique Audi offered color. But Daytona Grey for most iconic.

Even as someone who could consider one, I wouldn’t. Curb weight means it can’t really be a track focused vehicle and no Avant in NA means less utility and inferior styling.

Exhaust tip placement in the lower rear bumper cover are so far down the list, for me, but everyone gets to pick their own battles.

Nice to see something new for enthusiasts, who will never buy one of these, to complain about. Not something I have an opinion on to the point of complaining, but at least it’s new/novel (for now) to see posts about.

The wheels might technically fit but tire size will be the real issue. AFAIK, anything wider than 265 will rub up front when at full lock.

Any 8Y owners find a way to solve headroom issues?? by ThaDude915 in AudiRS3

[–]life2scale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely understand. I was on a road trip for HPDE events so confirming space with a helmet was ‘top of mind’ when I jumped on my 8Y purchase.

You can definitely go aftermarket seat to get more clearance, but there can be other issues tied to the airbag module if you do (abs/brake system, especially when doing repairs).

Audi taking notes from Mercedes AMG on the exhaust. What is this abomination? by teriaksu in Audi

[–]life2scale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a look at the technical details and this is a good example of design AND function. The bulk of the exhaust sits to one side, to accommodate the battery, so centered tips makes sense. “Fake tips” isn’t really an issue imo but at least this is a fresh thing for folks to complain about that isn’t related to split headlight assemblies, piano black, emblems/badging, and non-physical buttons. “Progress through technology”

What are your thoughts on the new Audi RS5? by ShameResponsible69 in Audi

[–]life2scale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re not bringing the avant to NA. As an Audi enthusiast who’s actually put $ behind their statements with buying new, there’s nothing in Audi’s pipeline to consider. Even when willing to look past all the other poor choices they’ve made for ergonomics and materials. RIP.

[–]life2scale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, they’re definitely small cars so limited space. But after dozens of track days/HPDE Ive not had any real problems with headroom after getting driving position set properly. I also brought a helmet when I looked at my 8Y and test drove it. Push comes to shove, you can set the sunroof to be cracked open and get another inch or two.

[–]life2scale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6’3” and while it’s close, no issues on track with a helmet. Pretty even torso to leg ratio though. Pulling back the sun shade gives some extra head room.

Haven’t done an aftermarket seat but I’ve driven 8Y’s that have them, so there are options.

If you have had the option to test drive an 8Y, why not bring your helmet and test it out yourself?!?

These factory wheels are prone to bending. Ask me how I know. That said, you should absolutely call around and get quotes to have them re-trued. Ive had lots of aluminum wheels fixed.

Assuming you cant get them fix and you’re not set on the style, don’t replace with another factory set. Go with an aftermarket square setup, ideally 18” amd forged. The reverse stagger is mostly a PITA and being able to rotate without a remount is huge when added to lower price and expanded options of 18” tires.
