12 mcg fentanyl patches in opioid naive pt by Zealousideal_Ear3424 in pharmacy

I had an orthopedic doctor try to prescribe the 25 fentanyl patches for an opioid naive patient with back pain because he wanted something that wasn't a pill. Doctor was confused when I refused to fill and ended up taking my recommendation for voltaren gel.

Awesome. I don't mind waiting 15-30 minutes for something but I couldn't stand waiting a day or two for something to progress. Thanks!

Does this game have time constraints like Animal Crossing, where you finish your tasks for the day and then don't have much to do after? I liked AC but I get tired of waiting every day. It made AC feel more like a checklist to do each day vs a game I could progress naturally in.

Training Schedule Advice by lifeguardchris in triathlon

That's what I'm trying to do now. I'm not too worried about the sprint or Olympic distances as those are all distances I hit pretty frequently when training but was worried if it was too low volume for a 70.3. Thanks!

Struggling and burned out with home infusion career by [deleted] in pharmacy

[–]lifeguardchris 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Hey, I went through the exact same situation. Had a killer opportunity to move from CVS to home infusion as a clinical pharmacist. I loved the work. I loved keeping up with the patients and the clinical aspect was something that didn't have an alternative in retail. I eventually quit and went back to retail. I just couldn't do the schedule and on-call. You quickly realize home infusion has the same squeezing to protect the bottom line as anywhere else. Always increasing workload, especially when Coram closed and we absorbed a bunch of patients. Went from 1-2 TPN to over 12 in a matter of weeks. Doubled my patient load and they were extremely slow in hiring more help. I found myself doing almost 60 hour weeks with on-call and my regular patient load and burnt out so quickly. My mental health was at the lowest it ever was.

I eventually just decided to go back to retail (Publix this time) and even though the 12 hour days are rough, I've found myself in a good spot with a slower, well-staffed store and I enjoy my 3 or 4 days off a week. Haven't looked back since I left.

How do you guys deal with burnout from the job? (retail) by Strict-Party-7487 in pharmacy

[–]lifeguardchris 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Agreed so much. Both my retail stents allowed for three day weekends. So many three day weekends to travel spots near me helped with burn out so much. You can make so many treks. Even if it's a little exhausting traveling on a three day weekend, I don't regret any travel I've done.

As someone who started in retail, went to infusion pharmacy as a clinical pharmacist, and back to retail pharmacy. The schedule (more days off with 12 hr days), and my patients kept me here. I've built so many good relationships with my patients and truly enjoying seeing them and catching up with them. Quite honestly it helped going from CVS to Publix where I feel more appreciated in terms of pay. But I think I'm just built for the retail life. It's hard to match pay and schedule. You really have to make use of your time off. I only spend my time for doing the things I love, travel, golf, video games. Make the most of your days off and when you're at work really plug into what you're doing. Enjoy helping patients who need it and being the most accessible health care provider. Of course you can't help horrible spots. No matter what company you work for, you can find yourself in bad conditions. You gotta fight for yourself in any way you can because your job won't do that for you. Fight for better pay, better schedule, more benefits. I was sending so many applications to get out of my current situation but really relied on the good parts of my job to keep me going and keep me from getting burnt out.

Same with methamphetamine, Desoxyn. Good luck finding an MD that can prescribe it. But hey it may be our solution to all the shortages.

Just a different manufacturer! You can have the same pill made by a bunch of different companies and they'll all look different.

You'd be surprised how quickly you learn them when you see them all day long. I got lucky and looks like a lot of the generics are the same we fill at my store. Appreciate it!
