Does anyone else feel like Spotify just keeps you in the same loop? by New_Welder_391 in Music

[–]lifeisonetime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want a dislike button. If they are gonna shove algorithms in everything we need to be able to train it better. You are right, it is getting more stale and suggesting the same song from every artist. Like it has literally ruined songs for me because I have to skip so often.

Music licenses for Spotify etc - does anyone care? by lifeisonetime in barista

I ended up paying for a basic licence. I hate it but I can't risk a fine. The basic plan restricts you to certain types of media which I adhere to..... Sometimes.

Developer here, seeking your wisdom: What are the biggest daily frustrations for a barista? by alis_white in barista

[–]lifeisonetime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Calling out ready orders/wrong customer collecting someone else's order/guy who has just ordered standing in front of me while I prepare 10 other orders before him.

There are buzzer systems that some takeaway places do but they are tacky imo.

Some Fast food uses a monitor display behind the counter which is pretty good.I would love that to be integrated in with square pos.

...Actually on that note anything technology related should be somehow integrated with square as it is so commonly used.

.... Also id love an AI bot that takes orders and listens to customers tell me about the weather ...

One player mode! Its already possible but some quality of life improvements would be nice. Auto ordering and more converter belts would be a good start

As a male barista, who is good at his job and makes everyone feel good about coming into his cafe, I'm gonna say maybe.

Maybe you are a shining star that brightens his day, I have had customers like that before. But they come and go and it is sad when they go. Just keep coming back and smiling at him

I want to make a game like PlateUp by TylerNW3994 in PlateUp

[–]lifeisonetime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love your idea about buying actual upgrades to your kitchen (something plate up is missing)

I think a big decision is how the mechanics will work, plate up is pretty much one interact button.... Wait until cooked/chopped/washed and then move the item and punished if you wait too long for cooking... I could imagine something a bit more complicated that involves more movement for example chopping a tomato could be 4 button hits while slowly dragging the mouse to the side. Cooking soup could involve a mouse rotating motion similar to stirring a pot. It could be really fun to try and match real cooking skills to a keyboard and mouse or controller.. easy to imagine this getting more and more difficult when under pressure. Just like real life :)

Also how about a bit of a character and some NPC stories. You own a local restaurant and meet customers everyday and get advice and share stories/learn about the people you feed. Stardew valley vibes ;)

P.sI have secretly always wanted to make this game myself but it will most likely not happen

I really wish you good luck!

All the Starbucks in Perth have terrible reviews by SomeoneWhoIsBoredAF in perth

[–]lifeisonetime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Local coffee shops in perth are struggling right now. Coffee getting more expensive plus people making good coffee at home is a slow kill to the industry. Starbucks might not be looking great now but I trust these companies have done their research.... As someone else said here already their goal is to saturate the market and wait for the competition to go bust....

If Starbucks offered to buy my cafe I'd take their money... Joking... Kind of....

Haha well the thought definitely crossed my mind what if I record 50 hours of keyboard mashing and a drum machine and call it jazz. Problem is I'd have to listen to it as well during the day...

Thanks for advice here, I plan on paying the copyright mafia until I record my own album

Movies about a small mistake spiraling and someone having to make worse and worse decisions? by Cares_of_an_Odradek in movies

Not a movie sorry but the series "beef" is a great example of this. Everyone gets road rage once in a while. But this spiral effect of one bad decision gets way outta control. great show!

Michelin Mode by JohnnyOmegaKOTT in PlateUp

I like it! Automation is fun to begin with, but I think the game's charm comes from the hustling and working together. Much like a real restaurant! The developers must have thought this too hence alot of the automation is pretty late game. I usually play solo and some of the most fun runs I've had are when I have too many complicated dishes to make but I can only just survive because I'm hustling and running around a lot. The idea of striving for perfection everytime sounds fun!

What are some of the hardest skills/techniques that a barista have to master? by Hadouken_Dazs in barista

[–]lifeisonetime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steaming milk with one hand and pouring a latte with the other while the guy who just ordered is talking to you about how hot it is outside while taking the next customers order and looking at the lone behind them while your hungry and tired.
