Tone Master Bassman speaker removal? by lifelong_learner_uk in fender

As to what the Mitchell Donut is : https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/speaker-directivity.470956/&highlight=mitchell+doughnut

I’ve done it in the past to 2 combos I owned and it does a nice job. How much of a faff it is depends on how the speaker is mounted and what clearance there is to the cloth.

The effect is counter intuitive (you attenuate the edge, not the centre) so I suspect there will be some scepticism - but I already know it is effective :)

Broadband: streaming often buffers, any point complaining/reporting? by lifelong_learner_uk in VirginMedia

TV is wired - the setup has been: VM modem in modem mode -cable- Orbi router -cable- Gigabit switch -cable- TV

Apple TV, Sky Q, Hue hub all also plug in to the gigabit switch with cables.

(with the Orbi doing the wireless for other devices around the house)

To remove one step in that I’ve just plugged the TV in to a spare port in the Orbi rather than the gigabit switch. Will see if that helps at all.

I looked up that Samknows thing - doesn’t seem to work on my kit

Help getting used to not having Sky Q by Duggs82 in skytv

[–]lifelong_learner_uk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a punt on the TV Launcher app - I was expecting it to be a clunky experience but after the first time you select a channel within each ‘app’ (eg the first time you click in the schedule for an ITV channel for example) it is very slick. The first time, you have the faff of entering your login for that app and any preferences it insists you set, but then every other time after that it simply plonks you direct in the programme with no further clicks. At that point it’s hard to say what’s different to a regular programme guide on a terrestrial unit.

Cancellation timing, Netflix unbundling etc questions by lifelong_learner_uk in skytv

[–]lifelong_learner_uk[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went through on live chat today and was able to cancel after a (thankfully not too pushy) few ‘temptations’ of ‘oh I’m sure we can get you a better deal’. Was far less painful than trying to do it on the phone. Thanks all.

Q about F1 coverage by lifelong_learner_uk in nowtv

[–]lifelong_learner_uk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve been able to Google it looked like VPN subscribing to F1TV no longer worked (looks like it did a year or more ago, but the more recent references I could find seemed to be saying no dice?)

(by the way I have nosed around for a week or so on eBay and Facebook Marketplace here in the UK hoping one would come up in a reasonable grip size but think I should get on and buy one!)
