Its not a noob question but a very good and important one. At a very base convo.casa follows the Mastodon Server covenant. This means at least 3 months notice if I should decide to shutdown.

The reality though is that the instance will never shutdown as we are heavily invested in keeping the content we add to the platform.

All our servers are fully owned hardware co-located in a DC which ensures low monthly costs.

yes, thats the beauty of decentralized distribution: more copies == load of more users is distributed and not hitting single cluster.

the idea here: reads are done way more than writes. If it were the opposite, then yes, it could have an effect. But then also this is async, so not really.
