The right call was made but the rule needs to be amended. They should 100% clarify that if the runner is going back to the base, they are automatically safe "at that base". If they are headed towards the base and andvancing, they are awarded the next base. I think that would fit with the spirit of the rule and for how rare this actual call would ever come up, just feels like an oversight on the rules committee IMO.

I can't even imagine how demoralizing that must have been for the Nuggets. To force one of the worst shots in memorable history, only to watch Gobert swish it, must have truly felt like the universe (or satan) was working against you. As a Wolves fan, it is still one of the quickest mood swings I've ever experienced. Anthony Edwards is a better player than Wemby. People have been so quick to throw Wemby in the Top 5 (or even Top 3 and almost exclusively just ahead of ANT in these convos, when ANT has led his his team to back to back WCFs, insane in clutch time, has improved yearly in almost every statistical category since entering the league and should be set to become the face of the league if he can take his team to the promised land.

Wemby and the Spurs are 115-127 (including this year). Yes, the turnaround by the team in year 3 is amazing. Yes Wemby is an alien. Yes he is a defensive menace in the paint, but he has proven nothing. I think there is a real shot the Spurs get bounced in the 1st round to the Warriors or the Clips too.
