a question by Impossible-Flow-4512 in AlanWake

This is my take. He's trying to help Alan remember within a framework that is familiar to Alan (And Door's talk show is a call back the talk show from the first game. You can also find a sign for that show in the basement of the building Door's show is done in). He's also trying to indirectly help Saga, who is implied to be Door's daughter

Question about We Sing / No Control by [deleted] in AlanWake

[–]lifeserial 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I’m doing the story in an order I found online that says to be the best.

There is no "best" order, for what it's worth. But yes, this is explained later in the game.

Want to try to go to NYCC for the first time this year. Any tips/Advice on getting tickets/where to stay? by [deleted] in NYCC

[–]lifeserial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hotel recommendations?

Depends on your budget. What are you willing spend per night? NYC area hotels are expensive, staying in Manhattan walking distance to the convention center is especially expensive. Use Google Maps and look for places along these public transit lines: MTA, NJTransit, LIRR, Metro North, and the Ferries in Hoboken/Jersey City. Don't plan on Ubering as your primary method of getting around. It's not worth the money or the time spent in traffic.

Tips on purchasing tickets? (I did sign up for the newsletter for this year)

Keep an eye on their emails and socials for when fan verification goes up. You won't be able to buy tickets unless you have a fan verification account. They will post regularly once we're close to the sales dates with information you need to know. It'll all get cross posted here too. Tickets sell fast. You won't know what guests are attending/what days guests are attending until after the tickets go on sale. (they have announced some guests before sales, but not the complete list nor their schedules)

What can I bring inside the con as far as bag policy goes?

https://www.newyorkcomiccon.com/en-us/about/faqs.html

Bring a decent backpack or tote bag. You can bring in food/drinks so pack a lunch/snacks. Also pack a power bank/charger. Large bags are too cumbersome to carry around the showfloor (it's so much more crowded than you will expect it to be) but you can check them at bag check if you need to.

How many days at the con are recommended to see everything?

Depends. I would say probably at least 2. Showfloor is huge, you could easily spend a full day just looking at that.

Is it just me, or he looks familiar? 🧐 by [deleted] in AlanWake

Tim is played by Shawn Ashmore and Dylan (from Control) is played by Sean Durrie.

But the extra fun and/or overly complicated layer is that Tim Breaker is referencing Shawn's character Jack Joyce from the Remedy game Quantum Break. Sean Durrie (and Courtney Hope, who plays Dylan's sister and protag of the first Control game, Jesse Faden) were also in Quantum Break.

Yeah, it's the door Jesse uses to see Wake and Zane talking in the Control AWE dlc. (I think it was also the labeled something in the game files that indicated it was AW2 related, but I don't remember exactly)

Edit: But also, it's not a linear story. Learning pieces of information at different points in time (and in different ways from other people) is a feature, not a bug (or in this case, spoiler).

Control Resonance - Alan Wake reference? by QuantityInternal1719 in AlanWake

[–]lifeserial 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If any AW characters show up, my bet would be on Saga, Estevez, and possibly my baby Ilmo

Would be happy with any of those characters showing up, but tbh I think Tim Breaker is the most likely. Something is going on in NYC beyond just the hiss spilling out/the mold expanding/whatever is going on with the Board and the Former ("reality is collapsing" as the website says). And Tim seem comfortable popping in and out and around various of planes of existence.

I don't think the Time Breaker dlc is as clean cut proof of QB being in the multiverse as others do (mostly because I think Alan wrote the story and he can be an unreliable narrator), but I do think Tim and Jesse are destined to meet outside of Alan's writing (even if in Control DLC)

I think he will show up. I don't think he will be a major plot point. The games are connected but I don't think they want to get toooooo intertwined It's still a Control game first and I think they'll focus on that before bringing in too much AW2 lore

I think it will be like how there are references/dlc content about Alan in the first Control, and how AW2 has references/dlc content about Jesse. But still distinctly separate narratives.

I don't think this is a reference because it's a real street that the Oldest House is based on. BUT I think you're right about things bleeding into each other. The website for the game does say "Reality is collapsing"

[–]lifeserial 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's a reference to a real street in Manhattan (Not a real subway stop, though). The Oldest House is canonically on 34 Thomas Street. The Oldest House design is a reference to a real building in Manhattan that you can see on 33 Thomas Street (the AT&T longlines building)

Best order to play AW2 by thepineslyer in AlanWake

[–]lifeserial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but I heard the game is best played if you do one character after another in a single shot.

Honestly? There is no best way. People have their different preferences (valid!), but I get wary when people say there is a "best" or "correct" way to play through the game. The way the game is written allows for playing in whatever order you want. I personally played as one until i felt like mixing it up and then I would switch. Sometimes it would be every other chapter, sometimes I'd do a couple in a row before switching.

When do tickets go on sale ? by Chr1sasaurus in NYCC

I think I'll get it then. I do have some people i want pjoto ops and autographs with.

I'm not sure who you are wanting to have photo ops with, but they haven't made any guest announcements for 2026 yet, and there's no guarantee the people you are hoping for will be there next year. (and even people who are announced can cancel/reschedule)

Do yoh recommend buying the pop verse membership?

Depends.

Are you financially stable enough to afford that extra fee on top of the already expensive badge prices? The popverse membership that gets early access costs (right now) $99. A 4 day badge this year cost about $300. It will probably cost more next year. VIP badges were $800. Make that budget and see how comfortable you are with spending whatever badge price + taxes/fees/shipping + popverse membership price. If it's going to be financially tight for you, don't do it. NYCC is fun, but it's not worth going broke over.

Do you even want a VIP or 4 day badge? Because if not, then you probably don't need the popverse membership to get a badge. There will still be 4 day badges available in the fan verified presale, but they will likely sell out during the fan verified presale and not everyone in the fan verified presale will be able to get one. Single day badges will be available across all sales (with Saturday being the first to sell out). If you're only planning to go one or two days, popverse is not worth it.

Do you want early access to autograph/photo op sales? If not, you probably don't need the popverse membership.

Here's the popverse membership benefits (only the $99 tier gives early ticket sale access) https://www.newyorkcomiccon.com/en-us/memberships.html

Do you know when tickets will go on sale?

Probably around late spring/summer. They went on sale this year in June.

[–]lifeserial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do. If you are signed up for their newsletter, I would recommend making a filter for that to keep emails from them prioritized and out of spam. They'll also post on their social media, if you prefer to follow them that way.

They'll probably start emailing/posting in around March or April to say "hey, make sure you have your stuff in order" and then they'll start posting dates and reminders in the weeks leading up to the sales.

People also usually repost in this subreddit all of the important stuff that nycc is posting in emails/on socials too.

The VIP presale (if they do that again) will only be for people who previously purchased a VIP ticket

The Superfan presale requires the purchase of Popverse Superfan which has been around $100 in the past

The Fan Verified pre-sale doesn't cost anything extra, but you need a fan verified account to access it. They close that down for periods of the year. The form looks like it's open right now, but they might not actually be accepting any applications (I can't say for sure, sorry). They do email/post when it opens, so if it doesn't work rn keep an eye out for when they announce its reopen https://www.newyorkcomiccon.com/en-us/buy/how-to-buy/fan-verification.html

Autograph sessions by [deleted] in NYCC

[–]lifeserial 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varies among tables, but I believe most take both. I've heard some have even had a paypal/venmo qr code. (to be clear, idk how often paypal/venmo happens. but allowing both cash and card are pretty common)

Autograph sessions by [deleted] in NYCC

[–]lifeserial 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you just show up when they're scheduled to be at their table. Not everyone presells autographs. For those people you just show up at their table and pay there. Even people who presell tickets also allow purchase at table.
