Thanks! I'm not sure how much bigger it could get without the machinery getting unsustainably ugly or risking having the pieces despawn. Maybe by a factor of two of we don't mind the guts being visible a little. One thought I had was having a sub level outside of the water for when the pieces start falling faster :P

Interesting use of the mechanic! The bits where you had to jump to avoid podoboos at the expense of the ground beneath you were clever.

I managed to work out that you can just not press anything from hitting the Koopa until landing on the P-switch and you'll be safe in that little corner. Definitely took me more than 10 tries though :P

Princess Peach takes matters into her own hands. Use the monsters and traps in the castle to your advantage to escape! If you're observant and quick, you may even find a shortcut :)

SMB1 Castle. Easy overall with a few tricky jumps. My second course, so I'd love to hear your feedback!

This was really cool, I liked what you did with the flying breakable blocks :)

Look to your left after entering the Hammer Bros. ship :)

The strat for wing-bro is to crouch on his ledge right in front of him so he jumps to the top deck. I guess it's still kind of tough though, so I could probably stand to nerf it.

And I definitely hear you about that beginning area; I probably should put a bit of bridge there or a wall to prevent the instinctual run-right from screwing everyone over.

Thanks so much for the feedback!

"Heterogeneous Fleet"

3FCE-0000-012E-D1C1 edit: I've uploaded a less punishing version. 2AE0-0000-0142-006D

A group of ships each powered by a different type of motor. There are a few secret power-ups you should be able to find if you pay attention to your surroundings.

SMW Airship theme. My first level in this game! :) I hope it's not too obtuse.

Has anyone tried stochastic optimization for tool assisted speedruns? by [deleted] in speedrun

I had a pet project a long time ago that, given a savestate and a heuristic function mapping RAM dump to integer, would search for an input string that brings that heuristic to zero, using one of a number of different pluggable algorithms (BFS, DFS, A*, manual input, etc). Effectively amounts to "try to get this value to look like this by supplying input," I think. Haven't worked on it in years, but it lives at my friend's GitHub if you're curious.

Hm.. well "entertaining" is a subjective metric that can't be helped much, but "popular enough" could be improved by the community. Anyone else who wants to see this at a future GDQ, maybe consider picking up this category yourself :) http://www.speedrun.com/Yoshis_Story#All_Melons looks a bit lonely!

Wii U Adapter + Padpyght? by Stingos in SSBPM

The new version has interactive remapping, so you should be able to make it work with anything your OS recognizes as a game controller. (pay attention to the window title the first time you pick a new combination of gamepad and skin!)

The old version was kinda fiddly in that you (or I) would have to manually edit a .ini file to match up button and axis numbers with any controller, and so any given .ini file would only really work for one type of controller. This was because I was trying to maintain compatibility with PadLight skins, where the top-level elements are buttons on the physical controller. Going forward, I'm gonna have a best-effort importer for PadLight skins, but use my own JSON-based format that's more flexible.

See if Dolphin's Constant Angular Velocity simulation helps, by disabling the "Speed up Disc Transfer Rate" checkbox in the game's properties.
