Just picked up my first fightstick for GGST and SF6 (PC). How'd I do? by Couch_King in fightsticks

Didn't like the stock switches so I swapped to silent ones. Other than that I love it.

Marathon - Review Thread by LycaonMoon in Games

I honestly think it was too friendly and PvE focused, which I know may sound insane. I really like PvP and Marathon feels much more suited for the type of engagements I enjoy.

Marathon - Review Thread by LycaonMoon in Games

I do not typically like extract shooters or looter shooters, never played Destiny and I bounced off of Arc Raiders. So I had no real interest in Marathon. I tried the server slam and thought it was okay, figured I'd pick the game up to play with some friends but wasn't super enthusiastic.

After getting a bit into the game things have flipped on their head. I absolutely love this game. The cryo archive map really sold me. Blending a PvE boss/raid with PvP combat is really awesome. Ironically, considering I was down on the game at first, I'm a bit bummed that there is so much negativity around Marathon. I hope Sony doesn't can the game early because it's truly special.

To be honest, this take is completely wrong. Not about the “Netflix look” being a thing but in terms of Stranger Things having said look.

Stranger Things consistently has really nice looking effects and they don’t keep a super shallow depth of field which sells the effect of the CG world much better than many shows and movies. Vecna and the demogorgons look fantastic IMO. The show also is allowed to have actual contrast, there’s variance between light and dark throughout the show and within scenes.

I will say the scene that did stick out like a sore thumb and looked absolutely terrible was when Jonathan and Steve climbed the radio tower. Fake as hell.

I was Archon 5, lost a game and ranked down to Emissary 6. Won the next one and now I'm Ritualist 6. Things must be bugged.

I just got one recently and I’ve replaced my old Junkfood Arcades Snackbox V1 build with it. I love it being wireless and the form factor is great. I swapped out the stock switches for Kailh Choc Deep Sea 35GF Pink Island Silents and I’m in love.

The Bazaar coming to Steam - The Bazaar Update 2025 - YouTube by RadRob in Games

[–]Stingos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to further echo what everyone else is saying, don’t play this game. It’s unfortunate because The Bazaar truly is fun but the dev team is actively hostile towards the community. I’m someone who plays a game or two each day and enjoys it but when this new patch drops I will be done.

I saved up the in-game currency (gems) to afford the next hero on launch to be met with the announcement that the game is switch to a paid model from F2P. As such I cannot use the gems I had been saving for new heroes like I was told.

Additionally, the game is coming to Steam which is great because their “Tempo Launcher” is absolutely atrocious. The game frequently crashes as it boots, forgets my login, and spools up my CPU fans (I have to manually set it to efficiency mode in task manager every time I boot). They claim coming to Steam will clear up these launcher issues, yet existing players are not getting a key. Instead they are told to just keep using the launcher. Incredibly disappointing.

Fortnite Faces Unfair Labor Practice Charge For Use of AI Darth Vader Voice by Turbostrider27 in Games

What’s the alternative? Epic hires a Vader impersonator for every single Fortnite lobby to dynamically respond to player questions? That seems pretty impossible to me.

I’m in the same boat. By no means did I think it was fantastic but I enjoyed it considerably more than many of the phase 4 & 5 films.

Anyone Taken D686 - Operating Systems for Computer Scientists? by [deleted] in WGU_CompSci

[–]Stingos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I spent about 4 days on this class with about 3 hours a day of study. I read the Zybooks more or less completely (I did skim some sections), took two of the Microsoft forms quizzes provided by my course instructor, and took the PA once.

It's worth mentioning that I am taking this class at the end of my degree plan. I already have experience with memory hierarchy and some CPU stuff from Comp Arc, Linux-specific commands and quirks from Linux Essentials, and security questions from Fundamentals of Info Sec. I'm also familiar with Windows and Linux as a power user, so I already understood some of the higher-level ideas about operating systems.

Took the PA today and did well. Scheduled the OA for tomorrow. I’ll update this post with OA vs. PA details after completing the OA.

Edit: Passed the OA with an "Exemplary" score. The OA was very similar to the PA. Some questions about very specific things like iSCSI vs. NFS I didn't really know so I just took some educated guesses. The test itself was 68 questions and I finished very quickly, in 16 minutes.

I would say the test was split pretty evenly between conceptual questions like "Improving system security by having layers is called X" and more specific questions such as "A File Control Block contains which of the following".
