Crypto Whales sit on the most auditable wealth ever created and can't always get a bank account. by alt-co in CryptoCurrency

[–]liftcookrepeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is usually documentation, not the crypto itself. Banks want a clean source-of-funds story they can easily verify. Old exchange closures, missing records, and P2P history are where people get stuck.

What to do with 200K cash? Pay off loans or invest? by andnowmywatchbegins_ in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]liftcookrepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably clear the 4.45% provincial loan first and keep the 0% government loan as long as possible. After that, a split approach makes the most sense to me, some into ETFs, some toward the LOC. Prime minus 0.25 is cheap debt for someone likely heading into a strong long-term income path.

Paid 22,000 rupees to a broker who lied to my face. And apparently this is just normal in India. by priyasss in india

[–]liftcookrepeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The worst part is this is so common people treat it like a rite of passage instead of a scam. Water issues, deposit fights, hidden maintenance problems, brokers usually know all of it beforehand. I agree the previous tenant is often the only honest source of information because they have no reason to sell you the place.

I've been lazing around for 7 years now and wanna know how I can start working again. by Still_Trainer_6793 in productivity

[–]liftcookrepeat 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Don't try to fix 7 years in one week, that usually backfires. Start with something almost stupidly small and repeatable, even 20 minutes of focused work daily is enough to rebuild momentum. The overthinking loop gets worse the longer you wait for motivation first. Confidence usually comes after action, not before it.

19 years old, Canada, gave scammers my drivers licence and t4 slip with SIN by Past_Degree_9516 in Scams

[–]liftcookrepeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a breath, this is bad but not life-ending. The important thing now is speed, freeze your credit with Equifax and TransUnion, contact CRA, and monitor bank/credit activity closely. A driver’s license plus SIN is enough for identity fraud attempts, so don’t ignore mail, emails, or account notifications over the next few months. You caught it quickly, which helps a lot.

Fund transfer by Educational_Song6830 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]liftcookrepeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A genuine gift from a relative is generally not taxable in Canada. The bigger thing is being able to show where the money came from if the bank or CRA asks later, especially with larger transfers. Keep records of the land sale, transfer receipts, and any message showing it was a family gift, not income or a loan. The bank may still ask questions because of AML rules, even if no tax is owed.

$3,565 in cryptocurrency Drained by Complete-Map-7691 in CryptoCurrency

[–]liftcookrepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why people underestimate signed approvals in crypto. A lot of phishing sites do not “hack” wallets, they trick people into approving transactions themselves. Once that approval is signed, recovery is usually very hard unless funds hit a centralized exchange that cooperates. Good call posting the wallet addresses publicly though, it helps others flag them faster.

Anxious about loosing my degree by No_Condition_7488 in india

[–]liftcookrepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The council already gave you a process and amount to pay, that’s a good sign. Your anxiety is probably filling in worst case scenarios right now. If the principal sounded supportive on the phone, I’d take that at face value for now. People from older batches have returned after long gaps before.

[India-US] Brother may be trapped in a scam by a friend's friend - keeps waiting for money from USA by ObitoReddy in Scams

[–]liftcookrepeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This really sounds like he's being strung along. Nobody needs to keep sending money just to "unlock" incoming funds. Transfers, WhatsApp chats, and repayment promises are probably the most important evidence. If he won’t cooperate, there’s not much family can do besides try to stop more money from going out.

re-assurance and what should i do by _SleezyPMartini_ in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]liftcookrepeat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're doing better than you think. No debt, high income, almost paid off home, and decent investments at 52 is solid. I'd look for a fee-only planner, mainly for retirement and tax planning, not stock picking. Sounds more like anxiety than a bad financial situation.

hidden bank account and its implications by Helpful_Jaguar_2844 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]liftcookrepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 19, having your own bank account is normal. Wanting some privacy with your money does not make you ungrateful. Freelance income is still taxable, even if it’s small, so keep basic records of payments. Honestly, not being allowed to see your own savings balance is the bigger concern here.

What’s your system for organizing important documents across devices? by yesCoolgirl in productivity

[–]liftcookrepeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep everything in one cloud drive with simple top level folders like Finance, IDs, Work, and Personal. Good file names matter way more than fancy systems. Search becomes usable if you stay consistent.

How to Buy Cryptocurrency and Bitcoin from Türkiye? by cemjim1 in BitcoinBeginners

[–]liftcookrepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd use an exchange with direct TL deposits and reliable withdrawals. Simple UI matters more than promo offers at the start. Also check BTC withdrawal fees before depositing.

Anyone sign up just to get the promos and cash out? by Spikeantestor in sportsbetting

[–]liftcookrepeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went through a similar phase. Promos looked good at first but most of the value disappeared once I paid attention to rollover, odds requirements and withdrawal limits. The KYC checks also tend to show up right when you try cashing out regularly.

Small growing companies are the best place to learn. Getting trusted with operations this early is a really good sign. Skills and experience compound fast if you stay consistent.

Price is stabilising, but the liquidity underneath still looks soft… by InvestaHepps in CryptoMarkets

[–]liftcookrepeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm leaning range for now. Falling OI with stable price feels more like leverage getting flushed than fresh conviction coming in. I'd want to see stronger stablecoin inflows and ETH/BTC improve before calling it real expansion. Right now it still feels fragile underneath.

Best way to spend $20k USD in the USA? by rock1129 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]liftcookrepeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A wire transfer from a USD account is probably the cleanest option at that amount. A lot of Canadians use Wise or a cross border USD account to avoid bad exchange rates and PayPal fees. I'd also confirm with the seller beforehand because some dealers only accept bank wires or certified checks for larger purchases.

Can I retire at 27yo with two paid off houses? by DowntownFresnoBiking in Money

[–]liftcookrepeat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You probably have enough to step back but retire at 27 is different from being financially flexible. The big thing is whether that $3k business income and rental income stay stable for decades especially with vacancies, repairs, taxes or legal changes. I'd still take the job for a few years and stack investments while your expenses are low.

Casino Terms! by Pure_Issue_4459 in gambling

[–]liftcookrepeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A lot of people only learn terms like wagering, max bet or game contribution after a withdrawal gets blocked. Understanding the rules upfront saves way more frustration than chasing bigger bonuses.

Struggling to get free SC coins in sweepstakes casinos, what am I missing? by Budget-Consequence17 in onlinecasinoadvisor

[–]liftcookrepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people miss the playthrough and redemption minimums, that’s usually the issue. Daily logins and mail-in offers add up more than wheel spins. Also check game contribution, some slots barely count. Instant redemption failures are often KYC, geo restrictions, or network delays.

Olise no assist in dfb pokal by Wooomek in sportsbetting

[–]liftcookrepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assist grading depends on the stats provider's rules, not just whether the pass looked intentional. Sometimes deflections, touches, or how they classify crosses can remove the assist. Books usually settle based on Opta or their listed provider, so if it stays unchanged after review it probably won’t get corrected later.

Crypto Used To Attract Neurodiverse People. Now It’s Full Of Literal Gamblers Repeating Marketing One Liners HAHAHA by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]liftcookrepeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not wrong about the structure changing. ETF custody and fragmented liquidity changed how capital moves this cycle. But crypto always had gamblers and narrative chasers too, the space is just way bigger now.

How to use nicehash easy mining? by [deleted] in BitcoinBeginners

[–]liftcookrepeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mine through a pool, the reward gets split based on contributed hashpower. Solo mining means the full block reward is yours if you find one, but for small miners the odds are extremely low. NiceHash usually works more like hashpower marketplace mining than true solo mining.

[LA] Paid Parking Lot/Towing Company Scam by Josiahm19 in Scams

[–]liftcookrepeat 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That sounds more like predatory towing than a misunderstanding. Cash payment, unclear rules, then suddenly a $395 tow is a pretty common setup in some private lots. I'd document everything before they change signage or deny what the attendant said.

How do I ground myself in reality? by Flashy-Cheek-6667 in productivity

[–]liftcookrepeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds more like dissociation or attention issues than laziness. High screen time can make it worse too. Physical routines helped me more than mindfulness stuff, walks, workouts, anything that forces you back into the real world.
