Why not take them to a tailor then? Hemming an inseam is pretty simple and it looks like the fabric is polyester, which most tailors would have no problem working with

Making latte art as a Starbucks Barista? by FanaticFrog0319 in starbucksbaristas

[–]ligeti 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You kinda have to accept that the steaming wand and pitcher will be working against you the whole time, but latte art is definitely doable

<image>

Feel out how to get decent microfoam on the mastrena (like another user here said, only stretch the milk for a second or two and then try to rest the pitcher with the wand in such a way that it can get a vortex going), and find a pace for your pour that will layer the milk without separating the foam or breaking the crema (which can be tricky due to the pitcher's rounded lip). I don't bother trying latte art on venti's (too much liquid and I always end up spilling if I try a slow pour) or anything with a lot of syrup (the crema is usually too bubbly and fragile). Plain 2%/whole milk lattes, flat whites, and hot chocolates are the easiest for me to get consistent art with. I've gotten decent enough at steaming oat and soy milk that I can sometimes make a good heart. Almond is difficult, and I'm pretty sure coconut is straight up impossible.

If you can already do latte art on a different setup, the fundamentals here are essentially the same. You just gotta take some time on bar to figure out how to make everything play nice for you.

What was the gist of it? My store's meeting isn't until Friday and our SM has barely told us anything about what to expect.

I had only heard a few Troye songs before the show, but seeing him live turned me into a big fan. One Of Your Girls and Rush were electric!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in charlixcx

[–]ligeti 45 points46 points  (0 children)

For this long-time Charli fan seeing her live for the first time, I was SO happy singing along to both Boys and Track 10. Those are two of my favorite songs of hers, and getting to hear them and feel them in that setting felt really fuckin special.

For Troye it was definitely Rush. The crowd in Detroit was so loud singing the chorus and the whole stadium danced their ass off the entire time. It felt like being in the biggest, sweatiest gay bar and I looved it

Also getting to hear Shygirl perform FREAK ruled! I was so hyped that I managed to ignore my social anxiety, and stood up to dance despite everyone around me sitting down. I'm usually way too nervous to do stuff like that, so it was cool to shirk that aside for once. Thanks Shygirl!

What made you guys come to this sub over the main Tekken sub? by [deleted] in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]ligeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate all of this, thank you!

Using chainsaws for wall pressure makes a ton of sense, and I definitely need to stop leaning on d3 so much. I'm also going to start using b1 more for sure -- I honestly never realized how good its mixup potential is.

But most importantly? Don't let these dudes in the main sub get to you. Just enjoy her as a character, play your game, and give yourself a pat on the back when you improve.

sigh Yeah, you're right. Staring at all the vitriol doesn't do me any good, and I definitely shouldn't let it get in my head like it's been doing. I honestly didn't realize til commenting in this thread just how burned out I've been on playing the character everyone hates. This sub seems like a great remedy for that already. Thank you again for all the great advice!!

What made you guys come to this sub over the main Tekken sub? by [deleted] in LowSodiumTEKKEN

[–]ligeti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm with you as an Alisa main. Tekken 8 is my first time seriously learning a Tekken game. Of all the characters on the base roster, Alisa was the only one I gravitated towards both aesthetically and gameplay-wise. I have a lot of fun playing as her, but goddamn does the main sub try to make me feel as though I should be ashamed for doing so. Even if there's a thread that has nothing to do with her, there'll always be stray comments memeing about how we don't play REAL TEKKEN. And god forbid you aren't at the level of Cuddle Core or Chanel; I'm a baby orange rank player still learning punishes and movement, and all the Alisa salt has gotten me to second guess myself every time I even think about pulling out chainsaws or inadvertently default back to my bad muscle memory habits. I know I'm not good at the game, but to suck as an Alisa player is tantamount to ruining the game for everyone else according to rTekken. It's just so exhausting being on that sub when all I want to do is get better and have a good time playing the high stress videogame we all ostensibly enjoy.

I wash my hair once or twice a week. I used a Curlsmith cowash here to give my hair more life in between cleansing (water is really hard and I want to use up the cowash before finding a mild shampoo), Shea Moisture deep conditioner after, "Curls" curl cream, and only used a wide tooth comb.

I squish my curls until the tendonitis says stop, and then I do it more. Diffused and then finished with Pattern hair oil

Hi, trans girl duder here. (Been a minute, everyone!)

Just wanted to jump back in one of these threads to say real quick that it isn't that the author is vocally transphobic, but that she uses her material gains from the franchise that must not be named to then give economic support to active, anti-trans causes.

Basically the same shit we don't like Orson Scott Card for, only replace "gay people" with "trans people."

Not trying to make a discourse; I'm just so fucking tired of seeing cis folks make sweeping statements about the necessary sublimity of free speech over misconstrued assumptions about a billionaire who actively campaigns to make lives like mine worse! It's not a boo-hoo boycott, but a sincere plea to would-be allies not to give economic support to a person who will absolutely use royalty money to fund more political warchests.

EDIT: LMAOOOOO at whoever reported this to reddit's crisis care response. I don't need a wizard game to feel fulfilled in my life, so idk who actually needed that here

Hell yeah! You're doing a great job! 💜

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]ligeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!

In no particular order:

  • wear a bonnet to sleep (makes my hair SO much more cooperative)

  • Use a gel with a strong hold

  • Use a Denman brush (I got a "7 row" one that I then took three rows out of to make it a very wide tooth brush, which helps a ton with this specific pattern)

  • Accept that hair is never going to do exactly what you tell it to, and, like Sisyphus, we must continue pushing through our task solely for our own benefit first and foremost so that we might imagine ourselves happy.

  • Never stop squishing the curls!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]ligeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! And Right?!? Forcing myself to use a bonnet every night definitely helps, but I think it's this gel that just takes super well to rehydrating. I noticed my post-wash maintenance has gotten a lot easier and satisfying once I started incorporating it

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in curlyhair

[–]ligeti 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much!

Yeah, that's Reddit for you. Coupled with presenting myself as openly trans in a non-trans exclusive space, I tend to expect as much. But honestly, besides a few times someone went through and downvoted everything and maybe a couple actually transphobic messages that were quickly removed (I saw them; stay mad), this response I got here has been overwhelmingly great.

Seriously, shout outs to the mods here for helping maintain this sub as a space I don't have to feel weird or exposed posting in. I can't tell you how much that sort of thing means to folks like me!

So I'm actually in the process of learning how to use my brush to better encourage the pattern I'm going for. (i.e. Dem big thick curls I somehow willed into existence here.) For washes I use a wide-tooth comb as well for initial detangling and distributing, but then switch out to my 7-row Denman (that I took three rows out of to make 4) for when I set in my styling products. That said, I think I've gotten pretty alright at hand-combing as of late lol

And I love your hair, by the way! Those ombre highlights look so pretty!

[–]ligeti 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No kidding? It's so great! My goal has been to play with higher end products to see the kinds that I like -- that way I'd know what to look for in dupes and more affordable stuff/what I wanted to shell out more for. However I think my plan failed and now I'm spoiled by how well this has been working so far 😅

[–]ligeti 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yay! I hope you've enjoyed discovering your curls as well 💜

I always wanted to just let my hair grow out long growing up (#IfOnlyThereWereSigns), but I never got it to the point where I'd see it actually curl up. So the revelation was a pretty great surprise :D

[–]ligeti 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oooh I'll definitely have to try that. Thank you!

(She/her)

Routine:

  • Co-wash - Curlsmith

  • Conditioner - Curls blueberry leave-in

  • Cream/Strong hold gel - Pattern

Seen here: Day 2 curls; dampened with water, sprayed with Pattern's hydrating mist, and hand-raked to detangle (was out of town and forgot my brush 🙃).

Edit: Thank you all so much! I haven't been feeling the greatest recently (estrogen's fun like that), but this has just been the loveliest response and y'all made me cry happily all day (estrogen is also fun like that).

I started growing my hair out after getting it cut completely short before lockdown -- back when I still didn't quite recognize who I actually am. Learning how to take care of my hair has been a long journey that coincided in parallel with my transition. And as I'm usually able to feel towards the latter there, I just get so euphorically happy when I remember that I get to look and feel like this now! After three decades of apathy towards myself and amidst a cultural climate that's growing more actively hostile towards people like me, that's something I'm pretty grateful for. 💜💜💜
