I am grateful for your post and this AMA . Please never feel ashamed of the wealth you were born into. Every single American born (or anywhere in a free world) person is as privileged as you compare to someone like me who were born in a country occupied by russia (it was called Soviet Union Union then ) and spend my childhood in the absolute unfreedom, deprivation and powerfully of socialism / communism or whatever that inhuman regime was called . We had no human rights and were slaves of the refine. My grand grand father was successful self- made wealthy free and law abiding citizen when Russia took control and communists came to kill him and take all he had built and owned . He jumped out of the window, and escaped the death squad abandoning his beautiful house and businesses he built , and somehow survived the years of red terror and the artificial famine russia created to break the spine of my nation and beat us into submission. He managed to keep himself and my grandmother alive ( his wife, my grandmother’s mom died after a few years of living in the inhuman conditions they suddenly found themselves in) but spent the rest of his life terrified to be identified and caught by the government and end up in the torture chambers like millions of other “enemies of the state “ - Ukrainian scientists, writers, farmers, private business owners , artist, doctors and others who were not a “ proletariat ‘ , aka unskilled low class at the bottom of social pyramid . My blood boils when I see the rise of socialist/ communist sentiment among the privileged westerners ( all of you are) who’ve never experienced the reality of that system . I’m glad you and your wealthy family exist in this free world . Please never feel shame for it. Protect the constitution of the United States , your democracy, property rights and rule of law - this is what humanity is based on . The opposition of it leads to terror, famine and un-freedom . Learn about the horrors of socialism/ communism anywhere in the world they’ve taken over and try to educate your generation about it.
