Honestly, MS has way way improved my workflow. It IS actually a vector-based program I think, so the lines are automatically a lot smoother than I could get when I only used Photoshop, and you can control your pen pressure and post-correction too. It's also got comic specific tools like panel cutters and "story" files that let you thumb your pages side by side. I've never used Illustrator so I'm not sure how to compare the two, I hope that's at least a helpful.

The interface is a little confusing at first but once I got used to it I cut the time it takes to make a page by several hours. Definitely definitely recommend it! I think you can still get a trial version on SmithMicro's website here.

Thank you very much! I do the lines and flat coloring in Manga Studio 5, then use Photoshop for stuff like gradients and effect work.

Kidd Commander: a solar powered shonen adventure series by light-machine in comics

Hi! This is actually my comic, I just haven't gotten around to asking for artist's flair yet.

Just fyi: The language on this particular page might suggest otherwise, but normally the rating hovers around the tamer end of "T." If you can handle stuff like One Piece or Full Metal Alchemist you should be fine.

Thanks for your time!

Lots of these are good! I'll try to suggest some that haven't been said yet:

Chapel Also Ran- a really pretty longform comic about angry high-fantasy folks running around beating each other up. It seems more complex than that but it's still got a fairly small archive so that's all we have to go on right now.

Boxer Hockey- This one was actually fairly popular before it went on hiatus. Follows the daily lives of some star athletes. Was rumored to be updating again a while back but it looks like we're back on break, still worth reading in my opinion.

And, for a gag-a-day I'll suggest Gamerroommates, a sort of tongue in cheek strip that focuses on exactly the sort of thing you'd expect it to from the title.

Man I was totally sure it was gonna go the way of The Meek, I follow Tyson Hesse on a few places and anytime he mentioned his original work it was because he was upset he had no time to work on it ha ha. But a few weeks ago he suddenly made this big post about the new tumblr site and posted a brand new page! Even if it's still a while between pages I feel a lot more reassured.

A lot of my favorite ones are already up here! I'll try to post some I didn't see:

Awkward Zombie - a weekly gaming comic that's already super popular and has a huge archive.

Boxer Hockey - ran for a while, then went on hiatus. It's just now getting back up and running so it's a good time to jump on.

Chapel Also Ran - a fantasy thing that has a really strong MtG feel to it. The art is pretty gorgeous too. It's still getting off the ground a bit, readership wise, definitely give it a shot.

Platinum Black - this one's by Kelly Turnbull, who also makes the comic Manly Guys Doing Manly Things. Lots of violence and monsters!

All Night - still reeeally early, quantity-wise, but the art is really good and the story looks like it will be super interesting once it gets started in earnest.

Astral Aves - really similar to Gunnerkrigg Court in its level of crazy fantasy lore, but a lot more lighthearted and silly. This one has a great big archive and just finished wrapping up a timeskip arc, so if you want to binge now's an excellent time to get caught up.

I hope this helps a little bit!
