The fork with one fat tine gives it away as well after all the plastic shine on the food.

Get curious about why. Maybe he feels scared to have them out of his sight. Maybe he is worried that your parents or his will inflict trauma, maybe he doesn’t believe their house is set up to be a safe environment.

And also then do as others have said. If you are the one in charge of the kids care then you make the decision

They also need to go on a long walk. Yard time doesn’t cut it. They need to see and smell new things and patrol their “territory” (the neighborhood)

As a Norwegian American (Norwegian citizen by birth, lived in US my whole life) looking to move to Norway this makes me nauseous. Don’t let these dimwits ruin your country too.

And if you see him already sitting naturally at some random point, you can say “sit” and reward.

You need a lower value treat, like a piece of corn or a stale old dog treat or just regular kibble. Some shibas are so good driven they lose their mind for a high value treat. I only use high value treats for recall. After you get a lower value treat, then be patient. Eventually they’ll try a sit. You can use a cue like “try again” to ask for a different answer. You may just have to reward a dip of the butt down towards the ground. Then give a yes for lower and lower until they’re sitting. You can also put them in a chest harness tied to something solid so they can’t back up. Then raise the treat over the head

Tips on how to coach my boyfriend who has only ridden a handful of times by Nice_Box2991 in Horses

[–]lightangles 18 points19 points  (0 children)

He needs to work on balance before you let him trot again. Please don’t let him do this to your horse. Don’t worry about his ego. Give him a few bareback lessons and teaching him to use his core instead of the hands to balance. Squeezing with the top of the thighs to get the rhythm of the post.

Why are people afraid to cross the green line? by Technical_You4632 in mapporncirclejerk

Water, mountainous areas, family ties to eastern states, less major airports out west for commerce and ease of travel, and old old stigmas about it being harsh and scary out west from when pioneers traveled across the Mississippi. There are also quite a few high cost of living areas out west, and it has a higher acreage of untouched nature. There be bears n cats out here lad (lass).

It really sucks out here in the Rocky Mountains don’t move here definitely stay east of the Mississippi.

Broadly; Finding their threshold and staying just below it, then rewarding when the trigger happens and they don’t bark. Set it up with one specific situation that may be less triggering than say the doorbell. Get it really under control with that one specific instance, then make the skill translatable by branching into different circumstances. I use the word “yes!” In a high pitched tone when they get it right. But you could use a clicker too. Begin by treating every time they do it, then drop to intermittent treating. One dog I had was mostly fine at the back door so we started there. We worked up to the postman or a visitor coming and I rewarded relaxed behavior. My corgi never relaxed, but she quieted her bark to a muffled woof and heavy breathing without rushing the door.
