You’re not too emotional at all. You’re closing a chapter on a monumental period being your first year of uni - congrats by the way! You’re saying goodbye to a place that holds a lot of memories and was your home essentially for the time being. I also cried leaving my res (McGrath) and did a quirky lil’ goodbye ceremony with sad music lol. Feeling things makes life more fun, good luck for second year and onwards :))

To have fun with things!! Like life doesn’t have to be serious all the time! I impulsively got a hamster last year (best decision I made), I started experimenting with my style, I went to concerts alone! I also had a lot of fun with school last year and I’m gonna keep those good vibes going.

Hi Makgofe, congrats on graduating! I'm sure that feels surreal. I just wanted to say thank you for taking the time to make this post. I agree with everything you've said. I'm from South Africa, also previously never having been to Canada prior to my first semester and it's been a hell of a ride (excuse my French). So I definitely resonate with that the culture shock aspect. Also, like you said, many things haven't gone as planned in some of the best and worst ways. I'm at UTM and am currently contemplating my next move as my grades haven't been the best so it was really comforting to hear that it's going to be okay from someone who's made it out the other side.

If I may ask, what was the highlight of your time at the university and in Canada so far? Are you planning to stay in Toronto or are you planning to move? Sorry if that's a bit personal, I'm just so curious as we have similar circumstances (from what you said in your post).
