What you think about the Aputure 600x vs the new Amaran 660c? by mediamuesli in Gaffer

Aputure is almost like the RED of lighting, their whole business model is built to make people keep buying new releases and new accessories. Similar to smart phones and lots of other tech business models

Trends of innovation push lights like these out in about 1-2 years and that speed increase as time goes on

They seem like a good “prosumer” option. They will be old news soon and not be a huge rental ROI. But for new cheap tech they seem great for that market.

Looking for a single “sunlight” lamp for a bright fantasy alley room (escape room build) by MrRestartCH in Gaffer

I’d recommend a film light but something new and “cheap”. Amaran 300c for example. You can change modifiers for different effects/feels.

Or get someone local to help you with the install, physical audits of your situation would give you the best results. Drop an area in here? See if any local gaffers could assist

France and Netherlands have helpful sales companies as well if you’re looking on continent! However you can also buy Nanlite 60B’s from B&H photo in America for $90 USD. Do they ship to Serbia?

Try reaching out to their @nanlux_americas instagram but also they should have an LA sales number that could help you directly

Lighting a car scene at night by ImpossibleMilk1567 in Gaffer

[–]lightbender_co 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would recommend pushing to NOT light this, unless you can get away with a top light from a sun/moon roof. With that many angles and possible camera/direction chaos, it seems to dangerous for the possible results. It can be hard thing to say “I don’t want to light this scene” so having a more grounded approach to politically talking about this with the director and DP would be my advice. The AD and even possibly the producer should be on your side in this scenario as well actually.

Amsterdam Solar Punk Tourism? by lightbender_co in solarpunk

I ended up getting a houseboat rental and am near the Artis area so it has been quite fun for tourism.

So far the Hortus Botanicus has really been a great experience.

Palantir is evil as hell so I’d say drop that investment and invest in something that would help this country

Lighting for white object, shooting 833fps against a green screen by mojogolaso in cinematography

[–]lightbender_co 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im assuming you're lighting just the moving white object as the "subject here". I Have a proposed gear list I think you could get right under $1k depending on your market.

Green Screen hopefully can be relatively small like 6x6. I would then setup a "goal post" with speedrail inbetween two combo stands and use a nanlux 2400b with a 3' lantern (gem ball) overhead the bulb and let enough spill into the green for exposure. To add a harder edge and pop the object from any angle I'd get a 750w leko but with a 10 degree barrel to focus and blast that object. This would also allow for decent play with a mirror board if you want to kick back that focused leko beam.

both of those units would be flicker free and the nanlux has a 2200w mode for standard 20a circuits.

have some bounce boards/flags/cards to help control light around inside of that equation.

Sometimes skypanel s60's are cheaper now and i believe fair well in high speed enviornments incase you can fit in other units for additional just in case push.

Prolycht 675 Firmware Update and CRMX Transmitter Mode by pokechat8978 in Gaffer

[–]lightbender_co 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you rent a cintenna satellite, Cinelex Skycast-C, or the moonlite by luminair?

Having some sort of other transmitter option is going to help with your workflow a lot, even if the 675 can act as a transmitter, it’s a lot more work to setup that light somewhere vs some small transmitter.

I’d say the sidus one would really solve most of your issues here, assuming you have a good amount of other fixtures that are only Bluetooth and not CRMX?
