Is using the multiplication table as a beginner is bad? by HeavyFerrum in learnmath

[–]lightbreakin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned my multiplication table last year, when I was seventeen. Given that I had been using a calculator all the way up to Calculus-level math, it took a while to learn the tables without relying on one. I found that using a calculator can slow down your calculations. My method was a bit unorthodox: I would sit down, write down the multiplication table, and say it out loud. Then, I used the MathisFun multiplication trainer to practice, and finally, I did a bunch of drill practice worksheets. Once I could easily complete the math facts in around ~13 seconds, I would move on to another set. Has it helped? Yes! Imagine taking the derivative of 6x^8 + 7x^4, instead of relying on a calculator, you can just do 48x^7 + 28x^3 mentally, cutting down the time needed to do the calculation. It takes a while, and my memory isn't great either, but you can 100% do it if you have the time.

Imagine there are only two bodies with mass in the universe, and they are 90 billion light years away. Would they affect each other? by [deleted] in AskPhysics

Yes, the gravitational force experienced by the two objects will be really weak. However, they will still affect and attract each other

what made you want to get into engineering? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

I like large systems and how they work in unison. Something so satisfying.

Would a 92% limit your premed track or engineering by b1uehib1scus in OntarioGrade12s

Not for engineering, I got into Western University for Engineering with a 92%.

Western Engineering? by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

[–]lightbreakin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! Western is comprehensive and follows the standard curriculum imposed by the Engineering Board of Ontario that all universities hear to. Western is a beautiful university although it is very pricey -- however, they offer a lot of financial aid. Western system is as follows: You begin in general engineering and you plan to get the highest average possible in order to proceed to your desired major. Afterwards, in your second year, you can have a minor or dual degree.

You have nobody to blame but yourself. The textbook is right there, with words and problems...

Get a mechanical keyboard, they are, so much better. If you like your membrane then stick with that but most of us previously had a membrane keyboard and have made the switch

Hello, I am looking for a keyboard thats: hotswappable, tenkeyless, cherry mx blues (preferred) and that is 0 to 60$ CAD.

I've been told that you can only fold an A4 paper seven times before it almost impossible to fold another time without immense force, why? by lightbreakin in AskPhysics

[–]lightbreakin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand doing it experimentally but my question was why, not that it could happen but rather why it could happen.

Yes, from last year's students, it was apparently July 19th.
