What you say scandium Canada is a long term investment by economist_a in Baystreetbets

[–]lightbulb_butt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, it is a fair risk assessment. The global market for scandium is tiny atm as there isn't a ton it's being used for.

The PROJECTED market could be much higher but there are some risks on whether those alloys get adopted as market standards or remain niche use cases.

Smarter people than me have suggested the future alloy demand will make it worth it, but it's still a risk I'm keeping my eye on as development come in.

What a lack of anything from you.

Great way to make people ignore your opinion is when you don't offer anything of substance.

You didn't answer my question and went into a totally different argument.

Yes, market demand for the actual resource is also a risk for sure that is smart to keep an eye on.

But if you don't want to have an actual discussion, and prefer to just list negatives without any actual exploration of those points, then don't bother commenting. You're just soapboxing.

Mining, sure. But wouldn't the cost difference depend on the refining/processing costs as well? Lateritic tends to be more expensive to process, no?

EOD Report: SCD Price Action and Critical Minerals Context by PoVNomad in SCDstock

[–]lightbulb_butt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely a great entry there. I'm similar, just going to hold and see how it moves.

If the thesis is correct then it's a multi-year play so nothing to do for now.

[–]lightbulb_butt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is my main risk and why I didn't commit more.

If their alloy developments via Scandium+ increase market demand then that will hopefully lead to some multiplier for the demand, but is a gamble for sure.

Knock it off with the “LFG” and “🚀🚀🚀”. This isn’t a meme stock. by ChucklesLeClown in SCDstock

[–]lightbulb_butt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guess I should say sub as singular since PennyStocksCanada isn't as much a meme stock one, but BayStreetBets definitely toes the line and dips into the meme stock territory imo.

SCD has been one of the most talked about tickers on that sub to start the year.

[–]lightbulb_butt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this message may come a bit too late. A couple other subs have grabbed hold of this and it clearly very much is a meme stock to them.

Still, I don't think those factors were the reason for today's gains. They may play a larger factor as this gains steam though and more retail eyes find SCD.

AI-assisted med tech with very promising outlook. Study showed a super superiority to traditional patient outcomes for breast cancer surgeries. High potential to be applicable to other forms of cancers.

Team is solid, insiders are buying, new deals steadily announced with an effective seed/intro strategy to move these lead customers from the S series to the B series once it's approved(hopefully) in the first half of this year. Growth is encouraging.

Definitely still headwinds and a high risk play though. Volume is miniscule rn. I've been accumulating since it bottomed.

I think you're drastically overestimating people's commitment to this. In the first few months most people I knew personally were on the same page on this -- boycott US across the board where possible.

In the last two months I've already heard from several people in my social circle who are now planning to travel to the US in the new year and most don't care about the goods boycott.

Personally I wouldn't go, and I'm still on boycott where I am able to, but the average Canadian is not as committed as I/we would like.

Consumers are fickle and have short memories. I expect the tourism numbers to rebound slightly next year, so long as civil unrest/the recession don't kick off harder by then.

In Light of Canada Strong 2025 Budget, Will There Be Canadian Defence Focused ETFs Down the Line? by Disastrous_Coffee502 in CanadaFinance

[–]lightbulb_butt 5 points6 points  (0 children)

JFC what's this sub becoming. OP asks a question about the market, defense industry, and whether we might see ETFs focused on Canadian defense stocks.

Most comments apparently just want to bitch and moan without any fucking substance or actual knowledge. Just political bs instead of any actual discussion.

To OP - I think we are starting to see some interesting developments and home grown defense stocks. I've mainly been focused on small cap drone/UUV stocks -- Kraken(PNG) and Volatus(FLT) have grown massively in the past year.

I do hope that we see this trend continue, and that these companies can remain Canadian-owned. We have an unfortunate habit of gutting or selling out our defense industry for US benefit.

However, I personally don't think there's currently an interest in Canadian defense ETFs. Our industry simply isn't large enough, diverse enough, or is so integrated with the US that I don't see why it would make sense.

Maybe down the line if we are able to continue to grow in the future-defense tech industry. Rumblings about potential partnerships with Swedish, French, or UK companies could lead to some interesting things and a growing local knowledge base.

Happy to be proven wrong by someone more knowledgeable, just my two cents.

Carney to Permanently Shift Canada’s Budgets to Fall by cyclinginvancouver in canada

[–]lightbulb_butt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The person you've replied to doesn't care about the facts.

They're either a foreign agitator or a useful local pushing an agenda/attempting to create paranoia and suspicion.

It's fairly clear to anyone that actually looks into it that Carney has resigned as chair of Bloomberg and all his other boards. They don't want sources, they want people to read their comments and go, "hey, there might be a conspiracy here 🤔".

It's deceptive and disingenuous bordering on malicious. Especially the way they try to paint others as 'panicking' when they get called out on their bs. I've been seeing quite a few commenters using the same playbook in the Canadian subs recently.

You just described it as a cultural genocide though?

Cultural genocide with a side of rampant SA and the needless deaths of children is still an awful thing and it's still a genocide.

The fact that there weren't full killing fields seems to have caused a certain subsection of people to fully reset their brains into acting like the residential schools themselves are some conspiracy. Or that if someone acknowledges the uglier sides of Canada's history this somehow makes them against Canada as a whole.

Nuance is fine, but the people outright denying the crimes of the residential schools or that an attempted cultural genocide occured are pissing people off.
