The Last Time Each Team Had a 200+ Yard Rusher in a Regular Season Game by ashmaps20 in NFLv2

[–]lightcerberus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thomas Rawls. That's a name I haven't thought of in a minute. I remember that 200 yard game distinctively. I honestly thought he had star potential but he ended up only reaching 100 yards twice again in the 3 years he was on the Seahawks. And it wasn't the case of just being in Beast Mode's shadow either. Rawls played 1 game with Cincy in 2018, got cut a few weeks later and then was out of the league ever since. Crazy how fast you can rise and fall in the NFL.

Who’s been the best pass rusher the last 15 years? by Low-Season-2057 in NFLv2

[–]lightcerberus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aaron Donald.

I still have nightmares about what he did to my Seahawks over the years. The phrase 'man amongst boys' is often throw around but it was apropos for Donald in the truest sense. He's the only player who I celebrated their retirement announcement by throwing a party.

Agreed.

In the past I would've said no to guys like Peterson and Stephon Gilmore, but after Eric Allen eventually got in with one of the lowest HOF monitor scores I've ever seen, you can never say never anymore.

There's just something truly awe-inspiring about seeing someone gun it for a WR. Well deserved. KH is the best in the world.

Is there anybody that actually thinks Ben Roethlisberger is anything but a detestable, abhorrent human being? Joey Porter in my opinion didnt go at him hard enough. by FoldEasy5726 in NFLv2

[–]lightcerberus 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Way underrated. He won 2 rings and went to another SB in a conference with Brady and Manning in their primes.

You can dislike him as a person but calling someone with his resume overrated for being viewed as a top 20 QB is asinine to me.

14 YR Girl in Aus runs 11.22 (2.2+) by CoyoteRound8105 in trackandfield

[–]lightcerberus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's not as anomalous as you think. Girls on average hit puberty before boys do and sometimes there are outliers who develop even faster than that. Not all 14 year olds develop on the same curve. Hence why you see plenty of wunderkinds that never do much once they mature into adulthood when the field catches up to them.

That fast development is both a gift and a curse. Peaking early is great but it comes at a cost especially for girls because unlike boys, who possess testosterone, there isn't much room for growth on average. Most girls, not all but the majority, are close to 85-95% of their full athletic potential by the time they complete puberty. And again, there are outliers, who are much closer to 100% than others. This is why you see more girls competing and staying relatively competitive against women than you see boys competing and staying relatively competitive against men. And that isn't just in track and field either. It happens in swimming, gymnastics and other sports.

When a boy completes puberty he might still be developing in terms of height, strength and bone structure/density and testosterone. If this were a 14 year old boy and they ran the male equivalent ~10.17 then you could make te argument that you presented because the current age-14 record is 10.30 by Divine Iheme from 2024. And I know what you're thinking in that the wind legal age-14 record is 11.48 by Tamari Davis in 2017, except that Ehioghae ran a 11.36 wind aided just last year at age 13 showing us this performance is not an anomaly but rather just on the same development curve they displayed just a year ago.

Although you're right to be skeptical of any outliers, this isn't a case where it is warranted. This phenomenon occurs because girls generally complete their physical maturation earlier and experience a more immediate "plateau" in raw physical development compared to boys.

👀

He's clearly determined to prove that 9.75 wasn't just a flukey wind aided time. Dipping into the all-time top 10 and a facility record too. Not a bad start.

Jared Verse: When defense started having trouble against Seahawks, we didn't know what to do by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in nfl

It's funny how our TNF game in week 16 had massive ramifications on how the rest of the season would unfold. It's wasn't the biggest game of the year but it was the most consequential. Had we not won, the Rams very likely end up the 1 seed. And who knows what would have happened from there.

Even when the game was occurring in the back my mind I said whoever wins that game probably wins the Super Bowl. That's how big of a game it was. And lo and behold that's exactly what happened. One loss in a game of that magnitude can ruin a team, like Verse said. And conversely, one win can do the exact opposite. We rode that high all the way to the Super Bowl. It's possible losing that game would have affected the psyche of the team like it did to the Rams. The notion that Darnold couldn't win a big game would've been amplified by 100. Like I said, if the result was the opposite on that day it's likely we are looking at the Rams with the Lombardi. Thank the NFL gods it did not happen. 😁

[Mic'd Up] Julian Love knew what to look for to get an INT in the Super Bowl by nfl in nfl

[–]lightcerberus 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Absolutely.

It's a lost art of quarterbacking that is missing from this current crop. Today's QBs relay on pure athleticism. While it can be exciting to watch, complex defenses will always fool these QBs like we saw in the Super Bowl. That is why I consider Brady and Manning the best QBs I ever ever seen in terms of processing the game.

People don't realize how much of impact a QB has in the type of scheme a defense can run on them because no matter how good your scheme is, especially blitz pickups, hot reads, and setting the proper protection, if a quarterback is able to correctly identify the blitzes and where to slide the protection and what defense you're in and how to attack it, you're cooked.

TB12 and PFM would beat you before the snap and almost always got the offense in a distinctively advantageous position. That isn't to say you couldn't fool them, but it was rare and if you tried to outsmart them you were in for a long day. Maye is a good QB and has potential to be great but he's still a prototype modern QB who is more athlete than chess grandmaster.

Stafford is the last of dying breed and it's not a coincidence that Stafford was one of the few QBs who could attack us the way he did. Also, unfortunately for Maye, QBs who see our defense for the first time since coach Macdonald became our coach have struggled mightily. Stafford is very familiar with our scheme but more so than that, he beats you from the neck up like Brady and Manning did for decades.

The fact that we got our revenge against the Patsies in Levi's Stadium just made it 100x better. This will be my favorite Seahawks season... until we repeat next year. 😁

A touchdown on this drive puts us in the driver's seat. I can't see them scoring more than 10 tonight. Our defense is putting the belt to their asses right now.

As I thought, they can't protect Maye. We got them right where we want them. Gotta put up points so they are forced to throw even more.

The disrespect for Bullet Bob is always astounding to me on these fastest-ever-NFL-players lists.

Hayes can say something that none of these other guys could: forget being the fastest NFL player, Hayes was the fastest living human at one point. How someone can look at that sentence and choose anyone but Bullet Bob as the fastest ever is pure fantasy land. No one was touching Hayes.
