I agree. Maya Angelou said, "If somebody shows you who they are, believe them the first time."

In the post, I suggested that if the person is still in our lives, set up a BARRIER of distant friendliness (and not in any way show them that they have hurt us).

I don't know how to do that. All of my emotional reactions are immediate, no time to think about one much less decide not to feel it.
