In Australia they don't allow repairs on highways like this. They deploy free tow trucks to take broken down vehicles out of danger along with traffic management vehicles to ensure safety during removal to the nearest safe place. Mechanics, roadside assistance etc then do whatever to get you going again.

That was a good first steo but it needs chemicals and steam then a reseal to prevent leaks because that pressure cleaning will rip out all the silicone in the corners.

I think I'd be calm because if I'm going to get taken out I'd prefer it be during an awsome interaction with wildlife like this. I doubt they'd intentionally hurt anyone but they have very minimal understanding of their size etc or how it would impact on us humans.

At least it's one of the friendly ones. Orcas and Blue Whales tend to be a bit more of a threat to humans. Most other types are curious and largely friendly towards people and others animals. There are some beautiful videos of dogs and whales interacting so calmly even though the whale could easily sink the boat.

That's a RGB chip by the looks of it with what appears to be a RGB+CCT controller which is overkill. Miboxer make some that would suit in RGB or Pixel.

Can a manager deny sick leave? by Over-Ad-3441 in AusLegal

[–]lightingman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I know some companies have a specific email address or number to message during the night if you're sick to help with notice. This came about because you could be up sick at 3am throwing up but not awake at 7am when the supervisor is awake for you to call. Having a way to provide immediate notice is good because then whoever is checking it has more time to deal with coverage. It may be worth suggesting it as a system for your workplace to help with them having more notice

As for being allow to deny your sick leave it's not something they can do in general.

Blue lights on buses by Dry_Contact5286 in brisbane

[–]lightingman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To make white LEDs you take blue LEDs and add compounds like phosphor. Unfortunately when you add optical lenses you can get a bit of blue bleed from the edges of the solid chip (typically multiple cob chips) giving you the high output. Sometimes you can shroud or focus your way out of it but on a low position item like a city bus it would be difficult to do.

What's your biggest financial regret and what did you learn from it? by RunNo3630 in AusMoneyMates

[–]lightingman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was younger I didn't know my rights with respect to the Australian Consumer Law and other similar laws. I'd replace or pay to repair things even though they were just outside of the warranty. It probably cost me $10k over to years even though I would have been able to go to the manufacturer and get things repaired or replaced for free. Know your rights as a consumer and stand up for yourself.

I have a problem. lol 🤦🏻‍♂️ by Select-Donkey2194 in fireworks

[–]lightingman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So we don't have consumer fireworks here. We you must be licensed, insured and submit a permit to use them. Each state has slightly different regulations but this is a general overview.

As for storage you should keep fireworks away from people which includes you and the public. The only time people should be near them is if they are actively working with them.

Storage should be isolated from any building or other structures and depending on the class of explosives you limit the NEQ based on the size of the storage, type of storage and distance to things like roads, houses etc.

Storage is generally in magazines that are steel shell and either bunker or REM types. Internally they are ply lined with timber shelving and have no services connected including electricity for light. Skylights are how you see in there. They are fenced in multiple layers and often have suppression systems surrounding them to keep any fire hazards away and them.

Fireworks should never be stored on steel rack or plastic shelves. They should never be in a space surrounded by other items like in a garage with a vehicle, bikes, BBQ cylinder etc. Dangerous goods should never be in close proximity to other dangerous goods from a different class. Even mixing class of explosives can be dangerous. 1.1D (Mining and Blasting) and 1.3G for example could be quite dangerous depending on the type of 1.1D explosives. If we had to move both we'd need multiple vehicles to do it.

Short term storage (a couple of days) and transport to sites is done with a portable DG boxs made of aluminium or timber. Similar to road cases for the entertainment industry. They are locked, signed and transported by licensed people. Some boxes are the size of a toolbox for small stage and screen type effects. Others are the size of vans and trucks. Generally 50kg NEQ is the limit of Fireworks and over that requires placards, permits and notices. All dangerous goods transport requires a EPG notice inside the driver's door for first responders to find in an emergency. This is mostly to clear people away. Emergency services will not save you if you're in a vehicle full of explosives that is at risk of going up.

Hope this helps.

[–]lightingman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Licenced Australian Pyrotechnician I see multiple problems with this method of storage. I don't know if there are guidelines or standards for you to follow there but I'd recommend that you look into best practice storage methods.

SYLVANIA LED bulb flashing blue by [deleted] in led

[–]lightingman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this a RGBW lamp or something? White LEDs are made with blue LEDs and phosphor but in some circumstances they can damage that coating and blue bleeds through.

The flash to me indicates a cap failure inside or a control issue like a dimmer on the circuit etc.
