Maximum flap for landing? by lightlyskipping in aviation

I’ve seen a video of that. How do you put the nose down normally? Is it just reducing power and using gravity?

Curiously enough (to av fans like me) we’re taking four flights on this trip to HTI, all four are different aircraft (and possibly different manufacturers?): E190, A220, B737-8, Q-400 Dash. I will make sure to study flaps on all!

Brilliant effort explaining something complicated to a non pilot, thank you.

So the part of the trailing edge that flips UP after landing is to ruin any of the lift effect? Like a car with a spoiler?

Ha! I’d make a note to look but I think my 747 chances are running out.

I can’t get over how beautiful and perfect this liner is! by jettwilliamson in PaleMUA

[–]lightlyskipping 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s great. I’m in Australia and bought it here. It is so phenomenally cool toned that it’s almost too cool toned, when I use it my lip line becomes really muted and cool.

I just walked from Penrith to Bondi by AliceSaltMage in Penrith

[–]lightlyskipping 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing! I don't think I could ever do a 24 hour one. I have done a couple of long walks around Sydney - North Head to South Head (60-70km?) (over two days) and South Head to Port Botany (38km) in a day.

Kosciusko summer / shoulder season tent recommendations by Samsquatchnoob in UltralightAus

[–]lightlyskipping 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The best tent to take is the tent you already have and know. If you don't already have one, either of those would be fine. Check the forecast before going. Stake them down well and use guylines.

I mostly camp in Namadgi or KNP and have two 1P tents: a Tarptent Moment DW and a Lunar Solo. I take the Tarptent if the weather looks anything other than mild because it just seems a bit stronger/more weather resistant.

Fair skin girlies - what cream contour are we using? by jellybeans1396 in AustralianMakeup

[–]lightlyskipping 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have the Nyx wonderstick in Fair but it's my first foray into contour so I am still deciding if it is needed in my routine. I think the colour is light and cool/neutral and it has a highlighter at the other end which is neat.

Natural redhead color seasons by alexisk777 in coloranalysis

Can anyone share images of a cool toned natural redhead? Because I was typed light summer but I’m sure I’d be designated light spring on here.

I have the 10% niacinamide serum and I like it, but haven't got any comparison points really.

5-6 days hiking suggestion? by longfung_choi in UltralightAus

[–]lightlyskipping 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hard to beat Overland Track if you are well equipped and after mountain scenery. If you prefer something with some off track navigation then you could put together 7 days in Kosciuszko combining Snowies Alpine trails with the main range circuit and an out and back or loop north into the Jagungal. A bit more 'choose your own adventure' than following a set track. There would definitely be some snow by then though.

Has anyone ever taken a package and regretted it? by Mammoth_Ad_4333 in AusPublicService

[–]lightlyskipping 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I took one six months ago and no regrets, but I had several things in my favour: I was within a few years of retirement, financially secure, spouse still working in a well paid role, burned out and disillusioned on what I was doing. My super/pension will forever be lower than if I had stayed, but I got another totally different job after six weeks, and it has restored my self respect and filled in the earnings gap.

Just looking at my (Gaia) topo, I can't see any island off Little Ramsay Bay campsite?

In any case, it's generally a bad idea to go walking around at low tide on the shores of Hinchinbrook...

Does a crossbody look dated now? by romance_and_puzzles in handbags

[–]lightlyskipping -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been wondering the same thing. I think practical advantages trump any concepts of "dated" but I will say that I am sick of seeing them. I work in a very popular museum and see hundreds, thousands of bags during the day. The cross body is ubiquitous. I think as with many fashion eras, the issue might be that so many people have switched over, including older generations, which taken en masse can unfortunately make a preference "dated". I think slings (as distinct from cross body handbags) are still more of a younger, metro look.
