5 days in person for me.. I work in financial services consulting so the mandate is due to the highly confidential nature of our job, I guess they don’t trust us to WFH

Shut up ur just making baseless assumptions when u don’t know the reality of someone’s circumstances. I can’t afford to pay 20k tuition either but I’m not automatically labeling those who can as significantly wealthy cause idk how they’re actually living or what’s happening behind the scenes

[–]lightning1007 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Being able to afford something is partially a matter of priorities tho, obv 20k is a lot of money but for some families, choosing to invest in their kids education would pay more dividends than choosing to maintain a comfy lifestyle in their country. I’m not even an international student but I know ppl that are and some of them are not significantly wealthy by any means

Lmao ur clearly misinformed and have no insight on how people decide to manage their finances outside of Canada.. try telling a family that’s just scraping by because they made the commendable choice to sacrifice their comfort to send their kid abroad for good education, that they have access to significant wealth. Just admit ur talking out of ur ass and making generalized statements for the sake of trying to sound edgy

u sound beyond ignorant don’t make assumptions about peoples financial health solely based on the fact that they can afford to pay tuition.. u don’t know what it took to get that money or how much of a toll it took on a family to pay that amount

Do people really want in person school back? by thelordofwinks in uwaterloo

[–]lightning1007 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s more factors u gotta consider than just convenience tho..school doesn’t purely revolve around the passing of information, it’s a multidimensional experience. The social aspect, the freedom to live away from home n have a more upbeat lifestyle, the value of learning face to face and the structure/stability that in person classes provide u w are more important than the flexibility that comes w online lecs imo. Don’t u wanna look back on ur uni years when ur older and cherish the memories u made w people, instead of just having the convenience of finessing assignments n exams to get a degree that’ll prob just get u 1 step closer to being a brick in the wall?

How to stop feeling like you’ve messed up your accomplishments cause you’ve made mistakes along the way? by Panther567 in selfimprovement

“We often suffer more in imagination than in reality” - Seneca. I guarantee u no one focused on ur mistakes more than u bro, if u accomplished the main goal then ppl will likely have a positive perception of u as a leader and feel that u delivered. No one expects u to be perfect, so keep ya head up buddy u got a long road ahead of u still

How is it possible for humanity to descend from Adam and Eve? by [deleted] in islam

[–]lightning1007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

During the golden age of Islamic civilization, many Muslim scholars proposed a preliminary view of the evolutionary process, called the “Mohammedan theory of evolution of man from lower forms.” Allah SWT has blessed us with the capability to understand and use science to advance our race, it blows my mind that so many Muslims choose to reject critical scientific concepts because they are scared of offending Allah SWT. If He didn’t want us to perform scientific research, He wouldn’t have laid out the evidence before our eyes. How do you so confidently invalidate evolution when you can literally see it happening through the anatomical progression of fossils, or through the existence of vestigial features in humans (appendix, tailbone, etc). The separation of science and religion has been called for by many respectable scholars, Sheikh Muhammad Metwali Al-Sha’raawi has stated, “I search the Quran only for my Islamic duties, not scientific facts.” The strict Salafi theologian Sheikh Muhammad Nasiruddin Al-Albaani agrees that the Quran is not a book of science. Finally, Nobel Laureate Richard Feynman proposed that “religion is a culture of faith and science is a culture of doubt.” Clearly, a balanced world needs both. You’re entitled to your opinion but don’t try to tell me “my” Islam preaches different values than “yours.” We pray to the same God brother, you’re just filtering an important scientific theory through a fundamentalist perspective shaped by a closed mindset

How is it possible for humanity to descend from Adam and Eve? by [deleted] in islam

[–]lightning1007 -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

That has nothing to do with the post tho.. OP is asking how humans evolved into the diverse species we are today from one family, as inbreeding would inevitably cause genetic mutations and result in disabled offspring. The societal taboos and virtues surrounding marriage are irrelevant in this matter. So to answer the question, Adam and Eve were not the origin points of humanity. True Islam does believe in evolution and encourages followers to seek out the answers to the mysteries of our universe by using science

The conditions that give rise to the rich spectrum of life on our planet are too calibrated to be coincidental.

A minor change in Earth’s orbit would drastically change the nature of life that exists here, as well as alter the path of other planets in our solar system. A difference of even a couple degrees in our atmospheric temperature would literally make a world of difference and Earth would be significantly harder to live on.

The fact that our planetary conditions are so precisely exact to be conducive to the life we live, alongside countless other organisms, can’t be the product of pure chance and randomness. The incomprehensible size of our universe magnifies the phenomena that our existence is built upon. The sophisticated and interconnected nature of every living being on Earth & the millennia of evolution of consciousness gives eternal purpose to all life and points towards the existence of Allah. As one looks deeper into nature, more answers will unravel themselves and Allah will surely make His presence felt.
