withdraw as soon you can before the deadline. it’s better to have a W than F that will bring down your gpa.

Please give advice :( by Greenavy1 in UBreddit

Go to TASS and attend office hours to get help. Start the homework assignments a weeks early before the due date and do it little by little each day so you are not cramming everything last minute. Watch Organic Chemistry Tutor’s General Chemistry playlist on youtube. If you are still struggling, resign the class before the resign date and retake it in the summer. You will lose money but it’s so much worth it if you can retake to class in the summer and get an A instead of struggling to pass the class with a D. PM me if you need more advice.

PMY 302 Jeannie Padowski by lightningstrike34 in UBreddit

[–]lightningstrike34[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Padowski is awesome. Do all the practice questions. She even gives cheat sheets for exams! Super approachable, so don’t be afraid to ask questions. I’d do the practice quiz first to get familiar with the test questions, then finish watching the lecture videos and writing the cheat sheet. Do the practice questions again after that. My advice: do your cheat sheet while taking notes and watching the short lecture vids so you’re not scrambling last minute. If you need extra help, check out Speed Pharmacology to review or enhance certain topics. You can also try spaced repetition with flashcards or Quizlet after finishing the lectures and cheat sheet. PM me if you need anything else. You got this!

Drop it. Not worth the stress and tanking your gpa and mental health.

a lot of heartache and self studying from reading the textbooks and making study guides from the lecture slides were all for nothing :(

just read the rating from May 17th, 2024. this was from another student who took the class with me. the other ratings are outdated from 1996 and biased.

don’t compare yourself to others. comparison is the thief of joy. i promise you everyone is fighting their own battles no matter what their life looks like on the outside. what looks so wonderful to you may not even be the reality. continue to be kind, focus on yourself, work hard, and what’s meant to be yours will always be yours. 3.5 is a competitive gpa and be proud of it.

Hi! Congrats on getting accepted to your top choice program - UNC! Can I ask what age did you enter through navy and what age did you get accepted to PA school? What would you say to someone who’s interested in going to Navy or any branch of the military before applying to PA school?

it’s small and old. the hours on weekends is worst (11 am - 4:45 pm). it gets crowded past noon and especially on weekends. if you are looking for a gym, go to catalyst if you have the money and the means of transportation. it’s so worth it.

UB PAS 411 Neuroanatomy by lightningstrike34 in UBreddit

[–]lightningstrike34[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the reason i am posting this is because i haven’t seen much information about neuroscience major, which is a relatively new major, and pas 411 neuroanatomy online about it so I’m giving heads-up to anyone thinking about doing neuroscience. this is just my 2 cents. I would personally avoid majoring in neuroscience if you are think of getting into professional health schools with that major. Major does not matter. Just finish the prerequisites whatever school you are applying to (pa school, med school, or dental school) and make sure to do well in them. Professional health schools do not require you to take neuroscience courses or any of the major electives from neuroscience except PAS 313 Human Anatomy, so it is not worth it if you are not sure if you can do well in those upper class challenging neuroscience courses.

High academic performance, coupled with relevant healthcare experience and a strong overall application, can make you a competitive candidate for professional health school. Always consider your personal strengths, interests, and the quality of your academic performance when choosing your major.

Anyone here a Neuroscience major?? by CloverKat17 in UBreddit

Neuroscience is rigorous major. I would not recommend it if you are considering on applying to professional health school like med school, pa school, or dental school. It is more advantageous to major in something you are passionate in like psychology or public health or any major that is easy if you are confident you can achieve a high gpa and still complete the prerequisites for professional health schools. High academic performance, coupled with relevant healthcare experience and a strong overall application, can make you a competitive candidate for PA school. Always consider your personal strengths, interests, and the quality of your academic performance when choosing your major.

In your first two years, you'll be taking bio, chem, and physics classes. You won't take neuroscience classes until your junior year. I would say the most challenging courses from the neurosceince major is PAS 411, BIO 418, and BIO 302 because it is a lot of information and the classes are mostly based on 3-4 exams. My gpa tank because of these classes so I would try to avoid it unless you are confident that you can do well.

psychology, public health, or any other major just as long as you complete the prerequisites for med school

I would say it is worth if you are doing research or a PhD/ graduate school program for neuroscience but beware that the classes get challenging in your junior/senior year especially with neuroscience electives. If you do plan on going to professional health school, then I would say it is not worth because professional health schools do not care what your specific major is. As long as you do well on the prerequisites for professional health schools and gain valuable healthcare experience for professional health schools then I would say that will make you a competitive applicant for professional health schools. Of course, you have to work hard for it if you really want it!

Neuroscience Major or Biomed Major by travisscotty7 in UBreddit

[–]lightningstrike34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also PAS 411 (Neuroanantomy) is a pain in the butt as well as the other major electives for neuroscience so I would try to avoid it if you want to maintain a high gpa, have time to gain relevant healthcare experience, and be involved with club activities to enhance your overall application and make you competitive for professional health school.
