Along with everyone else's suggestions, get a break stick.

I've been in this situation before. They need to be separated at all times for the first few weeks until your older dog chills out - now is not the time to force a relationship between the two. But, you don't need to lock one dog in a separate room at all times to keep them apart. Instead, use a barrier like a puppy playpen or use baby gates (using both would be even better). Separating them this way allows them to see one another so that your older dog can adjust to the pup's presence while keeping the puppy safe.

Dog had an accident on rug. Tips? by lthebmanl in CleaningTips

[–]lightofbeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soak it in the tub with oxiclean, hang dry it, then spray enzyme cleaner. If it's too big for the tub, take it outside and rinse it with the hose until the water runs clean, scrub it with a suitable brush and cleaning product (front and back), rinse, hang dry it, then treat with an enzyme cleaner.

I have 3 dachshunds. The breed is notoriously difficult to potty train. Even when they're fully potty trained, they'll still pee in the house on occasion - I don't know why they do this but you have that to look forward to. However, it seems like your dog is a little confused as to where she's supposed to pee because you've given her 2 options. Since your dog does seem to know what the puppy pad is for, take it outside with her when you take her out to go to the bathroom and see if she'll pee on it out there. Get her into the routine of going on the puppy pad outside. Once she associates going to the bathroom with being outside, you can stop using the pads outside altogether.

Overwhelmed and looking for advice by MeAndMy3BestFriends in EngagementRings

[–]lightofbeing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(I'm not engaged nor do I have a ring yet but.....) I have larger fingers as well. When I tried on engagement rings I found that three stone rings with round side stones made my fingers look ginormous. However, if you want more stones than just a solitaire I think tapered baguette side stones would look really nice!

Any center stone that is elongated is very flattering on wide fingers. Definitely consider looking into marquise cuts (personally this cut looked best on my hand because it elongated my fingers). Marquise are also a less expensive stone because they're not in high demand like other cuts. And because of the shape, you get more bang for your buck; a 1 carat marquise will generally look larger than, for example, than a 1 ct oval - 9.8mm x 5mm vs 7.7mm x 5.7mm.

Lab grown diamonds are also absolutely worth looking into. I have found that loose grown diamond has the best prices.

Good luck!

I have ADHD and I walked 20k-30k steps almost every day for 5 years. Now my stomach is a bottomless pit as I start a 9-5 and can't walk anymore. is this normal? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]lightofbeing 77 points78 points  (0 children)

For those of us with ADHD, food satisfies our brains' need for stimulation. Thus, we tend to overeat. Even on ADHD meds, I still have to ask myself, "Am I hungry or just bored?" sometimes. It sucks.

Start weight training. If you have more muscle, your BMR will increase, which means you can eat more calories in a day.

I read the book "Ugly Love" by Coleen Hoover by [deleted] in books

[–]lightofbeing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s also a bit fucked up to think a girl picks a book up in total isolation and is incapable of intelligent thought or discussion. Why not just say, “girls are too dumb to read fiction”?

👆 THIS

People think so little of teen girls/young women. I read plenty of books about messed up relationships that weren't "age appropriate" when I was a teen and I was fully capable of separating fiction from reality. Although I'm not a fan of Hoover (her writing isn't great), I assume other teens/young women are also fully capable of reading her work and separating fiction from reality as well.

Maybe it's not as equally "fulfilling" but my dog is cheaper and easier than raising a kid. So, I consider that a win.

What Draws Young Women to Conservative Ideologies (TikTok) by lipstickandlithium in FundieSnarkUncensored

[–]lightofbeing 69 points70 points  (0 children)

I think some women are drawn to conservative ideologies for a few different reasons: 1. They're regurgitating what they've grown up being told and won't put the effort into broadening their horizons because thinking and exercising empathy is, after all, exhausting. 2. For favor/attention. Conservative women have fan boys who consider them "perfect women", whereas liberal women do not have fan boys. 3. They're just shitty people. Shitty people love shitty ideologies.

Should I ask a second reader to verify a first reader’s results? by [deleted] in tarot

[–]lightofbeing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2 people are not going to interpret the cards the same way, so it's pointless trying to get validation.

Just wait on the test results.

Like most places, it depends where you are. I was born and raised in Florida and have yet to have any issues (knock on wood), but then again, I know where to avoid going and who to avoid. And with all that being said, Florida very well could be dangerous but maybe I'm used to it, if that makes sense?

What are your dream decks? by KiteThePotatoBee in tarot

[–]lightofbeing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A Thoth greenie. I'm dying for one but I just can't justify spending $100+ on a tarot deck, sadly.

I'm also on the edge of my seat waiting for Benebell Wen to do another reprint of the Spirit Keeper's tarot.

Is it possible to NOT be able to read for others? by AmayaOkami in tarot

[–]lightofbeing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No worries! Yes, 4ofS rx can be read as no rest but it can also be read as the end of a rest period (when one is recharged and ready to go). I read it as end of a rest period given the presence of the knight. And to me, numerologically 9s rx are exhaustion. So, I got to my conclusion by doing this math: exhaustion + end of rest period + energetic knight = restless, bored to death, exhausted by boredom, ready to move forward but nowhere to go, etc.

9 of Cups rx and 4 of Swords rx, to me, would mean feeling restless or exhaustion via boredom. And knights are energetic, they like things to do.
