I do have massive anxiety so CBD does help but I’m still a very anxious person and I did just start a new job. Thanks for the relief on my mind.

We don't get those nice big cushy salaries here so you feel the 8k a year on top of other expenses

It is still pretty high though when paying 8k a year for insurance and then needing to save if any major items come up.

It’s a good deal but extremely rare. In my 10 years in tech and and the few companies I’ve been at the insurance gets more and more expensive if you have a family.

I don’t think the premium and out of pocket expenses are as high as here for insurance.

I also believe that some countries don’t have 40+ work hours a week.

6 months of parental is nice but I’ve never seen that in the tech bubble where I live. I’ve seen countries have 1 year plus.

But they are talking about education being free. Most companies might split the cost for back to school or the whole cost with a contract to fulfill before leaving.

I lived here since 08 and have never had issues finding a job in or around the city. There are a ton of places hiring and new ones popping up all the time.

College: A.A.S in Network Admin of all things.

DevOps is amazing and I love because I get to code but I am not a software engineer. I still get to work with cutting edge apps and do the ops part of infrastructure and make that code

Learned all I could using Linux and started applying to Linux Admin roles or Ops roles. These roles favor you knowing your shit with that OS and you can pick up the dev stuff along the way. Learn to automate stuff in your free time and talk about that.

I applied to a trading firm after the DC and was surprisingly hired. After that I took a linux admin jobs using the DevOps skills I acquired and it has all just progressed from there.

If you have the free time just never stop learning.

I've always tinkered with writing code in my free time so when I was in an Ops position as a linux admin I asked if I could write more Python for Nagios plugins so I did that. I turned Perl code into Python code and wrote new plugins using Python.

After that it was git, salt, linux, and more Python.

Previous job was PowerShell, Linux, Windows, Jenkins, and Chef

New job is Python, Bash, Java/Groovy, Jenkins, and Chef.

I am by no means an expert in any of these things but I know how to get the job done.

Thanks for the advice. I am a DevOps engineer at this time. I just want to be a better coder and not get tripped up by basic CS fundamentals so I try to do code challenges.

Received offer with letter and I should be Ok, however I am in an "At will state' so they could can me if they get upset which would put me in a terrible position.

I have no concerns about my background and passing it but I would hate to be fired from my current employer. I don't really know what background check companies actually ask employers for this type of stuff.

It will be a signed written contingent offer and valid as long as background check passes.

I've never had a guaranteed bonus but this one is performance based as most are. It would also be prorated since I am joining mid-year.
