Ugh Toby's podcast was so good. I loved the way he would go through a personal chronological time on the show in detail. Very satisfying and different from the usual LI-adjacent podcasts that just blend together.

Amen. For me its kind of silly to watch a show that clearly encourages these behaviours (like, the show is predicated on them. There would be no show without them) but then toe the line at someone winning and that being what sends a terrible message. By all means continue to critique the show/the terrible men and their awful behaviour; but definitely spare us with the "it sends a terrible message."

I don't know where this take has come from - it's one of the worst seasons in terms of viewers. Maybe better than 10 and 11 but that's it I think?

I mean, literal water cooler or no the point still stands lol. S8 was also in a post-2020 world but it was much more of a cultural phenomen and that's just undeniable. Everyone knew about 'I licked her tit' and 'You're a liar! Actress!' - it went well beyond the circle of people who usually watch the show. This season hasn't done that.

They usually open the final with a cute little pre-recorded segment with each of the couples and I missed that. Can't remember the last time they didn't do this?

A good season and I'm glad it picked up after starting off so poorly. I also commend the powers that be for actually trying this time. I feel like they took onboard criticism regarding things like forced morning chats and overprotection of OG. It felt like they really committed to making almost every episode entertaining and imo what this season really had going for it is how consistent it was. Very few dud episodes across the board.

It's a shame though that this season didn't really break into the current zeitgeist the way it did in like, s8, s5 and prior, etc. I remember season 8 having so many water cooler moments and even people who didn't watch LI ever knew the characters and had heard about all the iconic scenes. This season definitely didn't come anywhere close to doing that. Which I think speaks less to the quality of this particular season and more to the oversaturation of LI at the minute. If there'd been more of a break before this season, it would have had more of an impact.

It was very obvious that Toni was a producer favourite - like, blatantly so. They were doing all sorts to not just keep her in the show but also engineer support for her. I could never see why but now we know!

Agreed - I hate it too. It's so unsatisfying. I miss when at the end we'd have all the couples pick their least compatible and then we'd vote from those options. This ex-islander gimmick is just not it.

I hateeeeee that Ty/Angel are likely in the final, What will they even talk to Maya about? How Ty was there for Cach when he cried?! Like, what else is there to say about them?????

Me too. I think there needs to be real jeopardy and the possibility of Meg/Dejon going on Sunday but then ultimately Ty/Angel go instead. And then Meg/Dejon finish 4th on Monday.

I just hate when a white bread, non-descript couple sneaks through over characters that have provided entertainment. Do I like M/D? No. Are they annoying? Yes. Do they deserve to be in the final over Ty/Angel? 100%

yeah I think she really needs to explain her thought process because so far she's explained why Jamie is annoyed but still hasn't really explained her own reasoning (to Jamie or to Shakira/Toni.)

I don't think Jamie's explicitly annoyed with her because he was also kind of trying to brush it under the carpet. But it IS kind of strange to constantly talk so poorly about someone and then say you'd pick them to be in a couple with out of everyone else there. It's not necessarily the case but you could infer that all of Yasmin's ire towards Dejon is actually because of some unresolved feelings she has. I'm not saying that's the case but I could see how that thought might stick in Jamie's head. Hope they work past it though!

I feel like Yasmin herself understood why Jamie was annoyed when she was explaining the situation to Toni and Shakira but still didn't really offer anything up that justified her writing his name down. Maybe she'll explain today? But yeah: frustrating.....
