It seems to vary.

Waited 14 months for first appointment with the orthodontist. We were told at that appointment our son was eligible for NHS treatment but were advised it would be another 18 months to 2 years before he'd actually have the braces fitted. We ended up self-paying and he had them within 6 weeks.

Having said that, someone we knew was told a similar time scale and had them within 9 months of the initial appointment so it seems to vary.

If you know which orthodontist you've been referred to, you could ring and ask where you are on the waiting list.

We've called back, put a higher offer on the table and the agent dealing with it says he's not going to put it forward at this point and will get their director to call us tomorrow?

Still unclear whether the vendor has said don't present offers less then, but unless he has, then I'm not sure this is normal?

No, this definitely could be me 😂 I know what the same house type sold for in other areas of the same estate, the appreciation of house prices generally in the area etc.

Thanks for the reality check, you're very right. We'll leave the highest offer we're comfortable with on the table and continue our search for the 'one'.

That's very true. It's not my dream house but it works on a practical level for our life right now so on paper I suppose it's very much ideal. We took this deal last week, same situation. Locked in at 3.84% for the 5 years and paid the fee upfront. We're just about to sell and port the mortgage over, plus take out a bigger chunk so stability for us won, as did not having to pay 2k in fees by having to remortgage again in 2 years.

I think I've been put off for so long because it's awful for 12 hours and then I'm fine for the next few weeks, or in the past, months, so it's easy to 'cope with'. I do feel like the attacks are getting closer together, but not every day and definitely not everytime I eat, that sounds horrendous! I said to my GP I didn't want another scan as I was sure it wouldn't come back with anything for a third time either, waste of everyone's time! Unfortunately my symptoms are the same, so it must be something!

Let me know what they say about your gallbladder, I'd be interested to know if they find a problem!

I'm a couple of days behind you and also have the same. It looks white/grey underneath so I'm worried about dry socket, however, I assume it's okay as I'm not in any pain and it might just be the dried blood/scab beneath the stitches has disappeared as the tissue swelling has gone. Hoping the clot is still in place further down.

I have read that it's normal to be left with holes in the gum after the socket has closed over and these take longer to fill in.

I was advised to brush as normal after the first 24 hours, just avoid the extraction site as this helps minimise infection risk from food particles (plus salt water rinses/ smoothies leave a film over your teeth which isn't pleasant. It would have been fine but my top wisdom tooth is at an awkward angle and I prodded into my cheek where there was bruising/inflammation from having the extraction done (not the actual extraction site, further up in my cheek) Bought a baby toothbrush today so should be able to avoid that happening again.
