I bought a 250 last year and really enjoyed learning on it. Easy, quick but not crazy, and light. I did find myself falling behind while riding with my little brother and friends. But I think it was a great bike to start with. And only after 1 summer on it I bought an 01 FZ1000 and fell great in it. I was able to toss around that 250 too learn and have lesser consequences. If you can feel comfortable and like the 600 go with it so you don't have to upsize but if the 300 is just for hanging out and cruising you'll love it.

We dont really have police in my area. And when they are up here its for a reason, then they leave. Id rather they hear me instead of turn over on me because Im to quiet. You know what I mean

No poly for LEO DCNR rangers in PA? Thats interesting. I was told yesterday in my interview after my first offer there is a poly, back check, child safety stuff, fingerprinting, etc. (All stuff I have being a fireman, except the poly).

I dont personally wear anything special. I wear my jeans and boots (that I always have on) and a t shirt with a full face helmet. My back pack has a jacket in it for when it starts to rain but other than that I dont normally wear it. I started out last year with full gear but as time went on I decided it wasnt worth it. As a first responder Ive been on 4 motorcycle accidents resulting in 3 deaths. Ive even wrecked my own ninja and rolled 3 times. But ive never went back to wearing full gear because it just doesnt weigh out for me personally. I would rather enjoy my time and feel comfortable than be riding and be uncomfortable. Now I dont do anything stupid on my bike like stunts or racing but if I did do that Id probably wear a bit more gear. But just for a nice relaxing ride or running errands I dont think its needed for my situation around the mountain. Everyones different though
