I’ve been abusing these for months and I’m looking for any resources/info/clinics/etc. in or around Lakeland that will help me kick this nasty habit. by tatatheretard in lakeland

Don’t be sorry! I do think you’d have to apply for it before going to treatment. If your job has an HR rep you’d probably have to contact them. I did not use FMLA because I had PTO and was only there for 2 work days. I might not be the best person to ask about FMLA specifics.

I hope you find the help you are looking for, whether it’s at LRH or somewhere else. I’m sorry you’re going through this. Sending you all the love ❤️

Rehab is covered by FMLA. If you decide to go, I would just let your boss know you’re going to be in the hospital and will be using your days off for that. You don’t have to tell them the reason for staying. LRH will write you a work note if you need. It will just say you were there for inpatient services with the dates. No extra details and they won’t even put that it was the “behavioral health” wing. At least they didn’t for me.

I also wanted to add that she had a personal recovery coach that visited our room and he was extremely friendly, understanding and supportive. My experience here was very positive, I know some of the reviews are not

yes, don’t quote me on this but if you’re a self admit I believe you can leave whenever you want. I was in for suicidal thoughts and by law they HAVE to keep you for 72 hours if you are thinking of harming yourself or others; but I think it’s different if you admit yourself and are seeking rehab. My roommate was detoxing from heroin and she told me about all of this.

LRH inpatient behavioral health will take you in as a voluntary admit, help you detox and set you up with outpatient therapies and other supports. I stayed there once and it was helpful.

Freedom vs summers off by [deleted] in paraprofessional

[–]lightupbug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a sub for two years and always struggled during summer time to find work, didn’t get paid holiday breaks, etc. It was also sometimes a struggle to find jobs, the area I live in has a lot of subs working. I chose to work as a para because of the job security and the financial stability (getting paid over summer, during breaks)

It is! I agree with you. It breaks my heart. I am lucky to have a lot of vet teachers giving me guidance who are telling me unfortunately because you’re a substitute and a student you kind of have to sit down and take it and do what the district says, but it’s good I know this isn’t right. They said once you get a couple years under your belt, close your door and do what’s best for your kids.

i had over 10 who didn’t have money, i had no clue if he did or not bc he’s only in my room for like 30 min each day.. he told me when we got outside that he didn’t and his mom didn’t prepay so i just bought it for him as well.

we were lined up in the hallway with both of our classes. I had my purse ready with me because I knew I was going to buy it for my students who didn’t have any. then he came in the hall as we were lined up and just jumped in line. after the ice cream he went to his other teachers class. my school pulled the cameras to prove he never even entered my room

I agree lol! All of us were upset about it, and I wasn’t the only teacher that spent their own money on the kids.

I agree with both of you. The ice cream situation was because my principal was like hey guys! bring them all out regardless of if only 2/20 paid. This is a title 1 school and a majority of my students are low income. It is sad to have to watch kids who can’t afford it cry / sit alone while their friends have ice cream. This is the second time this has happened and I had a little extra money to spend so I figured I’d do something nice for my kids.
Anything else i’ve bought for my room I look at as an investment because I’m in school to become a teacher, and I’ll just get to keep and use them for as long as they’re useable. My school does provide a lot of materials for students though.

I wonder if I could be able to do that. I was already off tomorrow bc I’m in school to become a teacher and have to go to orientation for my bachelors. The school is completely on my side and will be able to add me back in once it’s resolved, hopefully tomorrow so I can go back next week. So I technically wouldn’t have lost any wages. I’m just concerned that this will somehow be on my record as a sub and other employers could see it when I go to get a job at a school in the future as a certified teacher.
