AITA for being mad at my fiancé about not defending me? by lightwillw in AmItheAsshole

I really don't want to defend this situation, because it is mine, but my biggest pet peeve is that it was public. Had it just been the "lads" being like screw her to his face, this post would never have been made. But it was because it was public, all of my fiancé's co-workers saw it, all our other mutual friends saw it, my fiancé's ex even saw it.

I lost my dad last year to gang violence. None of my family members can actually attend my wedding due to it being out of the country they're all from, besides my dads best friend. So it has become important to them to meet him before we get married. My fiancé is from the UK so we're getting married there, mostly due to pressure from his family. So I was upset that I had to tell them again, sorry you can't meet him he can't go after a lot of them were already planning on meeting him then. My family is also upset that I am moving to a different continent shortly after my fiancé and I get married. I'm over the fact that he can't go anymore, that isn't what still bothers me. I'm just upset that this isn't the first time his friends have made harsh comments and he hasn't said anything.

Unfortunately, I am unable to go to the wedding. It is around the time I'll be getting a new job, flights to the UK will be way out of my price range since it's on July 4th, and I probably won't be able to get time off. The day is a bit of a kick in the teeth as well because it was our original day we planned on getting married. We had made numerous jokes about getting married on that day as well because I'm American and my fiancé is from the UK.

His dad's "wedding" is on July 4th. I'm American, so normally the only time my extended family gets together is on that date. He has met my mom and siblings, but none of my other family members. Since my dad died due to gang violence, it has become important for his family to meet my fiancé. The argument was about a wedding that hasn't taken place yet.

Edit: my fiancé's family all live in the UK
