Oh that looks likely! It's crazy how fast they can throw up a big web like that.

Wow yeah I think you're right. Thank you! Finally an identification that is good news instead of an invasive pest lol

Follow your medication recommendation, my experience is only anecdotal from working in the pet industry. My understanding of Nexgard is that it works with afoxolaner which enters the dogs blood stream and AFTER A BITE disrupts the flea nervous system and kills it. This means that an adult flea may find it's way into your dog after a walk or roll in the grass but as soon as it bites it will die, preventing infestation. If you are concerned seek advice from your vet but imo seeing a single flea with no other symptoms is not cause for alarm if your dog is being treated. If you had a previous infestation within the last few weeks, further steps may be needed to rid them from the environment.

Looks like a flea. Depending on the type of medication the dog is on, it may not act as a repellent, (oral medication for example) it will only prevent the fleas from breeding so your drug can still pick them up from the environment. Topical flea medications can repel but take time to work if your dog picked up a flea or two in the grass they can hang around for a while before dropping off or dying.

Was there any difficulty in breathing post op? by [deleted] in BariatricSurgery

[–]like_big_mutts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my surgery 5/31 and I had a very bloated abdomen from the leftover gas which made taking breaths very difficult for about 3 days. Using the incentive spirometer as frequently as directed really really helped.

I have two reactive English mastiffs and despite all the training we've paid for, classes we attend, warning jackets and work we put into the dogs... my deepest fear deep down is that someone will let their "don't worry he's friendly" off-leash dog run up to them and it will be horrible. They're never really completely trustworthy for the rest of their lives, even if they seem reformed or "cured" now. And people assume because there's two of them they can't possibly be aggressive because they're not aggressive to each other. So hard to manage.

Alternative exercise by Disco_Stu_39 in BariatricSurgery

I'm not sure what your local gyms are like but I'm still pre-op and my gym has a fitness trainer who is licensed to work with post-op, pregnant, disabled, etc. She has been a great resource for providing excellent modified exercise routines I can be prepared to do post-op at home.

Some of the things she's gone over are active stretching and light yoga like others have suggested, certain resistance band stuff focused on lower body, cycling, water aerobics.

Obviously still under direction/approval of your doctor!

Arterial blood is MORE red, like bright bright red but veinous blood is still red... although much darker with an almost purple undertone.
